My mate downstairs dropped me off 3 Mackerel Fillets freshly caught!!!!

Didn't have a clue what to do with them....so had a google!!!! confised

Ended up having Mackerel Fillets with Creamy Cabbage!!!!

Creamy Cabbage....Savoy Cabbage, Carrots, Smokey Bacon, Garlic and Sour Cream!!!!

Blanche the cabbage for 3 minutes....drain and immerse in ice water and then squeeze out excess water and put aside!!!! Small dice the carrots and fry in butter with the bacon and garlic for 6 minutes....add the cabbage and sour cream and warm!!!!

Pan fry the Mackerel fillets in BEST BUTTER....skin side first for 3 minutes then turn for 1 minute!!!!

Plate up....MOST tastiest 15 minute meal I've ever made....fecking beautiful!!!!

Mackerel is the dogs nuts. My favourite fish, eat fookin' loads of it. Had some smoked from that famous place in Whitby the other week.

The bones are a pain in the arse but worth it

Mackerel is indeed ellish.

We were down in Cornwall a few weeks ago, and I took the eldest on a mackerel fishing trip. We managed to catch four which our lass gutted and filleted and cooked them, within a couple of hours of them being in the sea. Fucking lush.

Probably not quite the same but I eat canned mackerel in olive oil. Sticks the office out mind

I also drink the leftover olive oil but not sure if it's any good for me or not

Best butter to my nan was a block of Lurpak and you didn't spread it on bread or stottie buns but you may aswell have sliced it on with the amount that went on.

Was it a treat to have the "best butter" back in the day? And if so what other butter did you have?
