Sorry Jez, it's pointless arguing with someone so totally unable to grasp the basic maths involved and who seems to be arguing with me by agreeing with what I'm saying.

No government has the mandate of the majority of the people and under the current system probably never will. I don't vote, like many others because I think whoever you vote for you get the same arseholes running the country. My personal circumstances wont change next week, I will be in the same job, on the same pay with the same outgoings. I will be comfortable if not rich.

The election will effect my kids, both of whom will be worse off, but there you go.

Some more facts to counter your horseshit though.

1997- Labour got 43% of the vote on a 72% turnout. 418 MP's, and 13,518,167 votes. That's about 2.2 million more votes than the Tories got last week.

Blair won 3 elections. That if nothing else proves he was a great politician. As was Thatcher. Even though I disagreed with a lot of their policies, they did at least do what they said they would.

David Cameron- where do you start ?

2010 policies- Cut borrowing- they didn't, they massively increased it. Cut migration to tens of thousands- LOL oh LOL. Another epic fail. Cut hospital waiting times...Tee Hee, another uber fail.

2015 Flagship policy- Hold an In Out Referendum on the EU by 2017.Does Cameron want us out of the EU ? God no, even he wouldn't be that thick. Does the majority of his party ? Hell No. Why fucking say it then ? To get himself elected.

There's some Grade One top notch hypocrisy for you. The bloke lies through his teeth like the career politician he is. He's modelled himself on Blair but without the charisma.

I'm not sure how you're suggesting that I can't grasp basic maths. Tell me where my figures are wrong.

To remind you, you belittled the Tory mandate by saying the following (which is actually factually incorrect):

Chip Fireball wrote:
]If that constitutes a victory, which I guess it does, then fair enough. However, its hardly a ringing mandate for Cameron when he only has the support of about 30% [sic] of the population.

I gave you the percentages for Labour's victories to highlight how Labour were no better. If your comment wasn't to belittle the Tory percentage, you would have also given the Labour percentages, but you didn't. You also didn't give any of this newly created spiel about it being about how no-one ever has a mandate.

EU REFERENDUM

How is Cameron giving an EU referendum hypocritical? It's exactly what he should be doing. Whatever his personal thought, it is the right thing to do. He didn't want Scotland to leave the Union but he gave them a referendum - was that hypocritical too?

There's been 3 (I think) referenda on Scottish independence since the last time the UK had a referendum on the EU. The EU that the UK voted on last time is nothing like the current EU. It's completely appropriate for a new referendum to be held. I have no idea what your concern is - being a socialist lefty, it's probably democracy.

Jez.. If you haven't noticed this is a FOOTBALL messageboard, the Elections over UKIP got one seat and the Tories won..

Now welcome to the board .. See you in 5 years ( or probably sooner if expected implosion of the Tories happens over Europe).

From what you say I should be a natural Tory.. Thank fuck my upbringing and conscience allows me to not be.

Yeah, I'd noticed the election was over and the good guys won.

My conscience is absolutely clear and your attempted smearing won't change that.

I can understand why he wants to have a break to see if he can recharge his batteries. I think Suzanne Evans would be a fantastic replacement, if needs be, though.

I'm a Tory member but thinking of joining up as a UKIP member too.

Why? because he disagrees with you?

All I've seen is someone putting up a reasonable argument. The abuse has gone towards him not from him. The day we ban someone for holding a different view is the day that this board disappears from the internet.

The % vote means fuck all under the joke that is first past the post is a joke. It's a phony democracy. Although it's impossible to state whether UKIP would have got as many votes if all votes were equal I don't know how anyone could claim that they have fair representation for the amount of votes they gained. The same goes for the Green Party.

The answer is this: everyone pays a flat rate of tax/NIC at, say, 25-30% which goes towards everything the country has to pay for that is a benefit for everyone (armed forces, police, etc).

Then the lefties (or anyone else, actually) could pay a voluntary hypothecated tax allocated to whatever they wish. This should appeal to all the champagne socialists.

Surely..... lefties + anyone = everyone. Or everyone minus lefties is equal to anyone minus lefties, divided by the sums of the squares of the other two sides.......recurring.

I think we have established maths isn't his strong point.

You've done no such thing despite me asking you to show me my failed maths.

Is there any topic lefties won't try and smear?

My point was directed at the (whingeing) lefties, hence why I specifically mentioned them. My comment in brackets was to show it was an option for all.

But you knew that.

When did you lose your sense of humour John , he set himself up for that by declaring the fact he's a traitor.

He's also swerved every reasonable question John..

Like I said I really should be a Tory but I wouldn't have the heart to cut everyone not as fortunate as myself loose .

Brilliant - is that because it weakens your argument or because you like what he says, despite it going against your 'beliefs'

Chomsky is also respected for his views on politics and ethics....

Fancy, discussing ethics with a right wing advocate.

my argument? I'm not even sure what my own argument is pal. I can't keep up, did the Tories win a majority?

Actually, it's because I listen to linguists every bastard day. I can assure you, they're the most boring people in the world. On a side note, I think I'm being haunted by my own degree. It's followed me to the bunker ffs.

I didn't sign an oath of perpetual support when I joined as a member. You don't follow a party without question if they're not doing what you want/expect.

It's that sort of nonsense that has the town of Hartlepool in a rut.
