Interview with Mike Lester

Evening everyone,

Does anyone on here remember Mike Lester, who had a spell at Hartlepool in the mid 80s?

I had a couple of drinks with Mike in Manchester at the weekend and had a good chat about his playing career. Started at Oldham, signed for Man City which didn't really work out and then he was a bit of a journeyman playing for a number of Football League teams, which included a spell at Hartlepool towards the end of his career.

Half decent player for us in 85/86 season, the team that dropped like a stone from Feb 1986 onwards after been in the top 4 for most of the season up until then.

Aye, he came along as the roofs disappeared, as did the atmosphere, as did the chances of Promotion. Tidy player, scored once if I recall?
