That's a hell of a name, Rip Jungle. Wish I'd thought of it.

It may have escaped your tiny mind but this forum is a Hartlepool based one so I doubt many of us knew a random bloke from Darlington.

You may find people who did on a Darlington forum.

HTH.

By the way isn't Jungle having a Swastika on his helmet a bit of a contradiction bbolt

How do you get them single voting buttons Chip? Only you seem to be able to start them and indeed vote on them. Not very democratic if you ask me.

I met him a few times in the 70s, always struck me as a very decent bloke.

Agree. I don't recall any swastikas and I'm sure I would have remembered.

The Svastika (Sanskrit spelling) is a symbol of auspiciousness in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. Which slightly outdates any other uses of it.

Given the Hells Angels' widely known liking for Nazi symbols, drugs, violence and organised crime it seems unlikely that Jungle was just using a spot of sanskrit to let everybody know how auspicious his helmet was.

Yeah I've seen it a fair bit on and around Temples in India and Vietnam.

I was just pointing out the origins and that his use might not have been sinister. He doesn't strike me as a Buddhist convert mind.

I meant he wasn't sporting any swastikas when I met him, about 40 years ago.

We used to swim at a place called Broken Scar in the Summer when we were kids ,Jungle and a few other angels would turn up on their bikes, park up, and just wade in fully clothed..

Even their dogs got a day out as they travelled in their side-cars.
