So they're going to replace one breeze block and sheet metal box with a bigger breeze block and sheet metal box ?

Not bad business, they build it on wasteland on the edge of town which eventually become a retail park. The lands value went up, a supermarket wanted it and the new stadium will be built slighty further outside Scunthorpe using funds predominantly made from the sale.

Wonder if IOR had simliar plans?

Not bad business for who...? Moving the ground further and further out of town is no good for the fans, ending up at some soulless box on some out of town industrial estate...I like proper grounds, which luckily we already have.

Being on the edge of town absoutely did not facilitate parking at Glandford. I don't know where the new stadium is going to be but I hope they do a better job this time.
Having said that, I have to admit that for a town that's as close a match to Hartlepool as you'll ever find, they totally wipe the floor with us when it comes to ambition and action.

Like I said...not bad business. They're not exactly a million miles away from the centre but I agree, with every move they're losing more of the clubs soul.
Pools have a stadium that they'll never outgrow in my lifetime, it has character and history and will hopefully outlive many more owners to come.

@Snowy: I lived on the doorstep for three years not that long ago, so speaking from experience. That doesn't imply that I think moving the town's club out into the sticks is brilliant for the fans.

Aye, those were the days, did a night shift as a bleach taster till 6 in the morning, went home and got me head down on the doorstep till 6.15 then walked off to the offal factory at Graythorp, shovelling it into drums till 2.55 when I got away to go to Pools on a flyer hanging onto the back of the bus and climbed over the wall via the dog track.
Leave the match on the final whistle, rush home give me dad my wages in exchange for a used newspaper as bedding and told my rent for doorstep is going up and backdated for two years and beaten up for being in arrears, before heading for my twilight shift as a sewage syphoner. You don't know yer born.

Very disappointed no sarcastic comments about yet another scunny related thread......even sadder that I need to explain matters sadx

That said, I didn't mind the ground when we first went in 91/92 ish, the away end then had terracing and you could get a decent atmosphere going. It was also the first of the many breeze block stadiums to go up and so was a novelty at the time. It's shit now mind.

It might be a case of third time lucky for them.
The Old Show Ground was a dump as well.

As for our ground will ior and the council make up and get this masterplan redevelopment sorted behind the rink end.

I,m sure it involved a new bigger rink end stand!

Only went to The Old Show Ground once and remember one of the 'moose men' being put in a portacabin to the side of the terrace by the bobbies. I am sure he was released afterwards, it was if he had been put on naughty step

Looks better than Glanford Park with plenty parking. I'm at a loss at what the arch type structure is for that extends into the carpark. It's like they've added it on just because they can.

How long have they been in their current stadium, 20 years, must the shortest time a club has spent in one, remember when it opened

The extended arch is for air drying t` yorkshie am, big business these days and will probably pay for the new ground in 7 weeks!
