23 years old from Huddersfield, Ronnie is bringing the right players in terms of age. Very refreshing to see. I'm still not going to jump on the promotion bandwagon for next season as some people are doing already as I've not seen these new lads play. But it's good to see business is getting done early!

can only be promising however squad is still very small and don't have any wingers (apart from ebby if classed as one?) and no goalkeepers in a couple of weeks time.

Hopefully concentrate on getting a bit of quality in midfield now. I'm sure we can always pluck a goalie from somewhere.

Ronnie keeps tabs on loads of players at lower league level and judging by his loan signings last season he doesn't make many mistakes.

Plus which, it's about time we had a decent Irish player in the team - was the last one Amby Fogarty???

Played in the Championship and the SPL last season good stuff.

I can't believe people are mentioning the size of our squad in the second week of June when we've already signed five players

I think it maybe has something to do with Ronnie releasing at least 9 players then stating he might only bring 7 in. Considering how weak our squad was last year and to reduce it further could cause problems. Lets hope we get a few more in yet.

because the squad is small

very happy with what he's bringing in but it's been pointed out before, we need to at a minimum replace those who have gone. Could be 9 players who have left so a minimum of 9 would need to be brought in.

I like how ronnie wants it sorted if possible before we begin pre-season

I honestly don't think our squad was small last season at all. Didn't we have about 26 on professional terms plus loans? Only difference was we had injuries and players who were terrible

Don't think the size of the squad is anything to worry about at this stage. We're probably two goalkeepers, two wingers and maybe an attacking player away from a good side. Remember, Club's won't be releasing loan players until the start of the season or maybe a few games in.

Bloody typical attitude of a non-goalkeeper, grrr

'..pluck a goalie from somewhere.' Just get a fat kid shall we? Whoever get's picked last goes in nets? Like that is it?

Booooooo

Hardest position to play on the pitch and highly skilled/specialist. Keeper is a match winner, FACT

can't say i've seen anyone worrying as such, just saying how signings are very promising but understanding the job is very big and so far so good. i expect another 4/5 players before we kick off the season

Exactly, you dont win anything with a shit keeper.

All signings so far very encouraging!

I notice picture of OS is with Russ Green, Ronnie on a deserved holiday maybe?

There's been quite a few times in recent seasons when Pools were bullied out of games by bigger, stronger, fitter opposition - be a nice change to see other teams intimidated by Pools.

Ronnie likes his 6 footers but he also likes his sides to play football, so I doubt any of these signings are going to be hoofers.

I reckon we 2 keepers, a left winger and an experienced striker, then we're done.

In central midfield we've got Featherstone, Woods, Walker & Bates. Magnay and Carroll can also play there, plus Hawkins and Green from the kids. I think that's plenty.

judging by the lack of wingers and plenty defenders coming in id say well be playing 3 5 2 most games. looking forward to seeing a proper left sided player at LWB who will get forward, unlike austin who was never a threat playing there

id say we could do with a defensive midfielder. not sure we can rely on bates to be fit, if hes out i think we lack a bit of physicality in there. and probably a winger who can come off the bench and change a game

I think another Centre mid is a must. A tough tackling hard man.

And clearly defender Jake Carroll is in need of stepping up his act in training, having been named the ‘worst trainer’ in the squad and being forced to take his punishment.

Well as long as he has a sense of humour...

Like I have been with all the signings so far - I'm chuffed. Two keepers, two wingers and a midfield bastard please. Ta Ronnie.

Never seen Woods shirk a tackle - not even when it's 60:40 in the other guy's favour.

He's got the double fracture to prove it.

I'd say with some certainty that Magnay and Carroll are going to be our wing backs in a back five.

But lets not forget Connor Smith is a winger who was played as a central striker when in the first team. He'll be a little stronger and bigger this coming season, and don't be surprised if Duckworth is given a try on the wing.

I would like to see a hard man in the midfield a young Willie Holland or Paul Murray but that wood cost money. Maybe Ronnie's got somebody in mind via the loan market.

you sure magnay is a wing back? did he play there for grimsby? pretty sure i remember him describing himself as a ball playing centre back on the pools player interview, but can cover anywhere along the back 4

Think we could switch formations depending on home and away etc.

Wing backs of Carroll and duckworth with magnay, Worley, Harrison or magnay, Harrison, Worley, Carroll in flat back 4.

Best thing so far is lot are versatile which could help with injuries etc as season goes on
