How can any football fan knock him? One of THE best English player who's sadly unable to beat an addiction. Exactly the type of player this country needs to produce more of.

I doubt he denies most of his problems are self inflicted but having the press report on every mistake he makes really hasn't helped him. You don't get £188k compensation awarded to you by the courts for nothing.

Exactly, the press love stuff like that which is a sad as its a pretty fucked up way to try and sell a few papers. It's a tough addiction that he is struggling massively to overcome, yet these pricks in the press and making things 10 times worse, he's one of England's greatest ever players and doesn't deserve this treatment.
