Yep, can't see Carson happening if that's the case. Pretty poor to expect a club to release a player under contract for free.

It's a negotiation isn't it? Carson may be Cheltenham's best player but he can leave for nothing at the end of next season. Pools are entitled to make an enquiry just as much as they are entitled to want something for him. The question is how much will they be prepared to accept given they are going into non-league, he doesn't want to be there and he'll be worth nothing to them in a few months anyway?

I wouldn't be that surprised if Pools end up offering a transfer fee - if he's the keeper Ronnie wants he may just have to sacrifice the wages that would have gone to another player to get him.
