To an extent spot on - but surely a way forward can be found for the children - instead of handing halfwits like this ready cash - pay their rent and bills out of what they are allowed and then hand them food vouchers to restrict their purchases - then the kids are not losing a home.

Chatting to a guy recently - he complained that he would struggle if his benefits were cut - then told me about his summer house he was building - made my blood boil, benefits are to help support you, not allow the building of a summer house.

I support a benefits system - but even I have to admit that the current format takes the piss.

Good read that, if the rest of the paper could raise the bar to that level, I may start buying the paper.

Accurate and needed saying, all the scroungers should be sterilized to stop them breeding :sci-fi-beamup:

When people out of work who abuse the benefit system to live a easy life who can blame them.

Its the governments fault allowing 26k a year benefits.
Are they for real they just encouraging lazy parents to knovk out a load o kids at the taxpayers expense.

Now the eastern europeans are joining in to our benefits culture.

The only mugs are the british genuine hard working tax payers
what a piss take.

I'm too young to remember the 60s and 70s, but from what I've read there was more or less full employment apart from a couple of bad years during recessions.

In the 1980s there was mass unemployment in areas such as the north east, which doesn't seem to have ever 'corrected' itself.

What I'd like to know from the older posters is if they knew of any of the 'underclass' knocking several bairns out prior to the 1980s, and how they survived.

I'm of the opinion that if people have bugger all aspirations because there's no work available then they will resort to scrounging as there's no other option. Their kids follow suit, and we've got the situation we're in today.

I was a kid in the sixties and can assure you there were plenty of people who wouldn't have work even then and quite a few problem families. I know several lads who I've known since we were in the infants who have never held down a proper job and have a fairly comfortable life style, because they know the system.

The introduction of the Minimum Wage was the worst thing ever. Employers get away with it because they know people will in general be able to claim top up benefits. Part time workers similar, how many woman who work at the supermarkets etc work more than 16 hours ? Yes great when you have kids but it's false economy, there is probably more expenditure for in work benefits than out of work benefits. Do away with all the Working Class Credits, this was introduced to encourage people to work but all its done is drive down wages and falsify unemployment figures, pay people the proper wage, means test Child Benefit, why should high earners get it, limit it too two kids. The average Brit only has a couple of kids but the immigrants etc breed like rabbits.
Over the years people have become very materialistic, new house, two car families all the best of furniture, no second hand stuff meaning both parents working to service all the debt, God forbid what will happen as and when the interest rates go up. the only debt people used to have was the 6 months interest free at Binns. Sunday rant over

Child Benefit too.

I was talking about this to someone the other day who earns six figures yet is still entitled to child benefits for three kids. Work that one out!

What does 100 quid a week in 1973 work out as in 2015 money? That was roughly the cost of an outrage bus ticket back then.

Money has inflated x100 since 1900 by the way. £10 then = £1000 now.

household income may be six figures not his individual wage

this is one area the govt. have cocked up

Anyone earning £60K or more loses child benefit

It starts to drop percentage wise from £50K

The main issue is 2 people can earn £49K each - household income £98K and keep all child benefit

1 person working bringing £60K in, will get nothing - it should be universal - all households bringing in above a certain level loses all benefits end of.

Everyone is still entitled to Child Benefit. However, anyone who earns over £50k has to do a tax return so that their Child Benefit is taxable. Once you earn over £60k, you theoretically receive nothing as all the Child Benefit is paid back as tax.

So in 1973 exceptional cases could pick up the equivalent of four grand a month. And of course according to everyone it was recent Pakistanis immigrants who got the most.
I think a 26k cap is reasonable, though I hear they're planning to lower that. Maybe there ought to be a weighting factor. I can't believe for a minute that anyone in Hartlepool could plead poverty with that kind of income but the South might be a whole different kettle of fish.

The Minimum Wage was introduced by the Labour Party in 1999, the concept was at first a good idea but all it does is encourage employers to reduce the rates of pay, who then in turn say they can't get British labour, they then employ Migrants using the excuse they are more reliable !

So you'll accept that the amount claimed in benefits by Eastern Europeans, is outweighed their contribution to the labour market?

Interesting read that.

But they are being disengenuous on one small point: their population density assessment. Holland and Belgium do not have great swathes of unpopulated land, like for example most of Scotland. I'm convinced they aren't going to start giving people incentives to live on Rannoch Muir or in the Outer Hebrides.
Or to put it another way, when the Jocks give us the two fingers they're going to take a huge chunk of land with them, and the population density will then be a different kettle of fish.

"In mid-2013 the population density of England was 413 people per sq km compared with 149 people per sq km in Wales and 135 people per sq km in Northern Ireland. Scotland has the lowest population density at 68 people per sq km."

It's 667 per sq km in south central England.

The relatively minor financial benefits (if indeed it is a financial benefit) of mass immigration are simply not worth it.

That kind of density seems to work out OK for central Honshu.

It's a lot worse in other places too. The Japanese live in high rise blocks. That's not what the UK wants or needs (providing immigration is better controlled).

The encroachment onto green belt in the UK and urban sprawl should be a red line. Well, it is for me.

Can hardly believe that the nightmare prospect of a Jez/Sussex merger has come true. The imbecile UKIPer has decided to garner support for his ex-banker chum by going on a Pools message board and attaching himself to the resident Loid. All hail Jessex, reactionary mutant king.

PS I'd be very happy for Mr Talbot to decide the future of England. There might be some risks involved there but he'd be a fucking sight better than a bunch of dafties like you and Sussex.

Of course you would, you want to fuck the Tory English up.

We should set them up with their own lil forum where they can carry on trolling to their hearts content.

We could call it Dense and Fucking Denser.

Trolling seems to have a very wide definition. So wide as to make anyone who accuses others of doing it look a bit of a cretin.

Like Pets Corner in Ward Jackson Park but for trolls? I'd be in favour but I wouldn't want to take kids to look at them.

I can tell you don't care - that's why people don't want to leave the future of England to you.

I care about the future, just not you or the Tarmac king and I didn't put my self forward as a candidate in the election, so people couldn't care about that neither

Seriously, can these fooktoons not have their own little bit to play in. You know, padded with some sand and toys. Hate feeding the trolls but really, can't they just be fooked off elsewhere to talk this shite?

i know you're not going to be a parliament candidate but you do have a vote and what you'll vote for is a threat to England.
