You'd have thought Nelson was a terrible centre back or something given the reaction.

He's a decent player at this level at his best he was an excellent player at it. Moore has said he wants a couple of experienced centre backs if he was one of them added to Harrison and Jones I'd say we were fairly well stocked in that area.

Would I be jumping for joy at his signing, no, could he still do a job in our squad? Yes. He's always good for 30-40 games a season for a start.

If he is 'the' centre half, I'll be disappointed. If we get him and another it wouldn't be a bad thing

Too slow 5 years ago never mind now.

If Nelson was one of Moores top choices then fuck me.

You hit the nail on the head there PJ when you said " was ". We had the best years out of him and he was a great servant to us. I would like to think Ronnie can bring someone in a bit younger than Mickey that will do a job for us.

If he is 1 of 2 Centre backs coming in I will be very pleased. Still good enough to do a job at this level.

He said he wanted two experienced centre backs.

If Nelson is one as experienced back up then I see no problem. Sam Collins has come in and did a job at times over the last couple of years.

Nelson is too much of a 'panic and kick the ball anywhere' kinda defender. I'd rather see a cool headed defender sat between Harrison and Jones.

I'm afraid even as a back up won't make him any quicker will it. We can't afford to be stuck with players sitting on the bench that we daren't bring on as they may get caught out.

sorry but agree with the not wanting him to sign.

The bloke is 35, will of surely only got slower and well doesn't really fill me with confidence. If he was a backup yes, but at this stage, surely we are getting first choice transfer targets, which I can't imagine Nelson would be.

Daren't bring him on?

Give over is he that bad? I've not seen him much over the last couple of years but I do remember watching him against Man United on the box last season. It finished 0-0 and he had a blinder. He can still do a job when required.

Out of interest how many 'quick' centre backs play at this level? The best centre back I saw against us last season weighed 20 clem!

Sign him up Ron.

I guess that depends whether you expect your centre half to whip the ball off the opposition striker's toes or just flatten the fucker.

Has he?

He's come in but the job he's done has not been good enough.

Seriously though, can you imagine Hodcroft saying, "Oh cool, a player who's forever wanting to walk out on us. That's exactly what we need."

Last year yes, he was totally finished and didn't even want to play himself. The season before he came in when required and had some good games.

In Ron we trust - as an ex centre-back of great experience and with another as his assistant he is a far better judge than any of us. Plus, he has a budget he needs to work to.

Cant see the club announcing anything for next few hours as they are replaying tweets from some game we lost for some reason.

Waiting for the happy clappy Ken is a hero crew to jump all over this.

Imagine the conversation

"Hi Stevie, Its Micky - out of contract mate, not sure what to do"
"Howdo Micky lad, dead easy - get onto Ken at Pools - he'll give you a new contract - easy money"
"Aye, sounds good - not sure if I can be arsed to play every week like"
"Nah, that's the trick - I couldn't be arsed either - yet still got paid a shit load for doing next to fuck all"
"Will he really give me a contract?"
"Of course, in the past you've played for pools, and the gullible fans will welcome you back no danger, hang on, I'll just get you Kens number......"

this conversation is a figment of my overactive imagination and probably didn't really happen. If it did - I am not liable in anyway, shape or form.

People on here who back his signing say good back up/squad player.

Think we have more important players to be signing than backups and squad players who are 35

I just don't see why Moore would rush out to sign him. Maybe as a last resort but no need in signings him this early. Just doesn't ring true with me at all.

I'd also hope Ken told him to fuck off after how he left too.

I don't think we'd be looking to bring in another centre half as cover when we have offered Bates reduced terms. Surely we are looking for a starter but Moore did say he isn't bothered about signing the best players, its about getting the best team.

I wouldn't cover a picture of a centre half with Matthew Bates.

Apprently free headers and losing your man all the time are the future. He's a good footballer with the ball and if he loses two clem.

Personally I'd play him in front of the back 4 like we did away at Tranmere last year; it allowed him to drive forward, play some football and offered cover behind if he cocked up but even then I'd rather have other ahead of him. Depending on where Moore see's him playing will depend what type of player we are looking for though.

I like how Nelson left Bradford cos he wanted to be close to his kids and then moved to Scotland, Cambridge and now London.

To be fair Cloughy isn't a bullshitter t roll he just loses his bearings.

He was on the North Circular Road and not the A689 when he saw 'Nelson in his Audi' it's an easy mistake to make give or take 250 miles.

BTW, that "NELSE" plate Audi in Hpool isn't Micky Nelson..I was at the One Life picking a prescription up for our Lass last week and the driver of it pulled up next to me, got out using sticks, and limped into BankHouse Surgery.

...hang on, it MIGHT be Micky Nelson!!!!!
