20 year old striker from Barnsley signs after being released.

Unproven really. Best of luck!

Does he have a brother called Creos?

Hope we were first choice for him and we aren't stirring the porridge.

Great. I trust Ronnies judgement. Another early buy in makes it better for pre season. Get In.

Can I be first to say that he's bound to be captain soon with a name like that.

I searched YouTube for him and found a 'taxi for Oates' video showing someone missing an open goal from 6 yards. I presume it's him.

YouTube:- Barnsley U21 v Derby County scores 3 maybe 4 goals.

I'm sure Ronnie's done his homework on the lad. He'll of watched him at U21 level.

At 6'-2" and looks quite mobile, we'll have some height and with Bingham and Fenwick could be a good forward line, we need somebody who can provide some accurate crosses.

One thing I think we will have this coming season will be a lot of energy.

Keep them coming Ronnie.

We now know he's at least as good as Bjornsson.
I'm glad we're not signing players who score two own goals in a match any more.

He clearly isn't a last resort signing, so Ronnie must rate him.

I demand Ronnie to sign the striker Robert Hall from Bolton, what a partnership that would be.

That's just silly, how can you write him off before he's played half a preseason game?

I've just spoken to someone who thinks he has a daft name, and therefore is going to pick up on every error he makes.

Someone else said that if he's a big lad then he's bound to be clueless if he gets the ball to his feet.

Another one said that although he's never heard of him or seen him play before, he is convinced that he won't win the number of headers he ought to, and is going to repeat this mantra ad nauseum at every home game.

Lastly, my elderly neighbour who knows nowt about Pools, reckons that if you rely on target men to get you out of league two then you are on a hiding to nothing, and promises to headshake in disbelief every time he nets for Pools.

Everybody who goes to Pools in this town has a neighbour like that ... there must be some obscure local planning regulation making it compulsory.

I read the comments about him on the Hartlepool United official Facebook page and a couple of Barnsley fans commented saying he's a good player and they don't get why he was released. Sounds like a prospect to me. I'm actually looking forward to seeing him in action.

My Barnsley supporting mate said exactly the same. Clearly not the finished article and may not work out but he won't be on big money and as Yubep says, give me someone like him desperate to succeed rather than the 'has been', overpaid planks we've had in recent years.

Ronnie said he wanted everyone in for the start of pre-season and it seems that is what he is trying to achieve. None of this picking up the 'dregs' no one else wants. So far so good.

I'm a bit wary of Pools signing young untried players. Not because I don't think they'll be any good, just that Pools have a history of never giving them game time. And as often as not they end up bored, lazy, and fat.

I'm counting on Ronnie Moore to put an end to this tradition.
