I'd bet a considerable amount the most corrupt of all, Sepp Blatter will be unaffected. In fact it wouldn't suprise me if it was arranged by him to aid his re-election, he's a poison to the sport.

He'll get away with it as usual. He's a horrible corrupt wanker.

With any luck age will get the better of him before too long. Not wishing the feller dead or owt but you can't carry on till you're fucking ninety.
In the meantime I fear the Qatar WC will just have to be written off as a bad 'un.

Sepp Blatter is the main man who oversees this whole organization. His job has now became untenable. Good riddance to the dictator.

Blatter will still come out unscathed.

That bloke just puts a giant middle finger up at any shit thrown at him.

The Teflon Don of football.

FIFA executives charged with corruption?

This is the most I've came home and been shocked by something since Ricky Martin came out of the closet.

How can a man who has been head of FIFA for 17 years continue and even contemplate standing again with all this going on.

If there was ever a man with a 'God like' complex, he has it and yet he still has dozens of nations voting for him banghead banghead banghead

The man has to hang on to power because the moment that he loses influence over the other corruptables,
the crap is going to hit the fan for him.
The yanks are good at obtaining plea bargaining deals from their suspects, so, fingers crossed, this could just be a turning point.

Blatter stays in power because he molycoddles Africa and the Middle East, whose nations have exactly as many votes each as the mainstream ones.

Why, when everybody knows FIFA is corrupt to its core does it take the Yanks to file charges? The Swiss authorities should have been all over this years ago. Now that the US is involved Putin sees this as them having a go at the Russians successful bid (i.e. big brown envelop full of cash) to host the World Cup.

For me, Russia deserves a World Cup on its own merits; it just prolly needed a backhander to tip the scales.
Qatar on the other hand...

As for the Yanks, I can't really fault them on their outlook to professional sport. System of first refusal in the NFL is just one example.

Remind me; who was the only country to publicly get wise to Lance Armstrong? And it wasn't their bike bods or the press who exposed him.

Fifa allegedly corrupt.

The FA have never stood up to Blatter and Fifa.

The FA are, therefore, corrupt by condoning Fifa

discuss.

The FA have no choice but to dance to FIFA's tune, along with every other country in the world.

Even if loads of FIFA officials are imprisoned then there will be plenty of corrupt individuals waiting to step into their slimy shoes. As long as the sponsors hoy billions at it, people will take risks to line their pockets, and the channels of backhanders are firmly entrenched.

Hasn't over 1500 people died so far building the Qatar bid? Also what a latter said about gay fans is shocking. How can he have the brass neck to not walk.

Could the FA not have withdrawn England from taking part in the world cup etc? - would others have followed to support the FA's stance - probably not.

Its a bit like the Torquay chairman a couple of years ago, stating that he would cancel the contract of every player he saw diving - every supporter and opposite manager applauded the decision - not one club followed their stance. -

that's what is wrong with the game.

Hopefully this will be the start of an alternative organisation being founded to run the game, but I'm not holding my breath. Chances are Blatter will still be deciding where World Cups are being hosted next time the bids are held.

Believe it or not, in some countries (not saying France or owt like), a sport's governing body is considered to be the Minister of Sport's delegate and it is fooking illegal to play outside that arrangement. The government indirectly holds total power over the game.

If you were to invent game called, for example, knob-ball tomorrow and it started getting popular so you started a league, and then an association, you'd eventually need the minister of sport's blessing.

The courts can actually jail people for doping up. When push comes to shove the government can order any association to toe the line if they start getting a bit rebellious.

So no, not everyone would follow England. But they prolly still wouldn't even if they were free to do as they wish.
