Don't let the fact they've had a far far better season than us get in the way eh?

Well they finished higher than us, but it was always going to be a tall order for us to finish near the top of the Championship.
At the end of the day, they've got just as much out of the season as we did. Better luck next time Boro.

And Pools.

Maybe if we had a chairman ploughing almost £20 million a season in we'd be able to compete? Just a thought.

Hahaha are you 5 years old???

For the record they will be in the same league they started next season which is the same as us so did they really do better. Maybe the loan signings from chelsea year on year need to be Barcelona instead for them to improve??

Just a thought

Another bizarre statement.

Man City qualified for the champions league, of course they had a better season.

It's not the best example you've given there, bresslaw, as Villa can still win something this season, but I do agree with your sentiment.

Middlesbrough have had a far better season than Hartlepool. Only a fool would suggest otherwise.

It's hardly a fair comparison with them being 2 leagues above and a much much bigger club.

If this thread was a 'lets all LOL @ a league 2 team' that finished above us, then fair enough.

I hope no one starts a lets all laugh at the champions league losers thread in 2 weeks, as they've both had a much better season than us.

Does that mean we can't enjoy their heartbreak Jez?
It'll only be added to when Karanka's head is turned by a top flight team. I've not really enjoyed our season so will take a small amount a pleasure in their misery.

Watched the game in a bar in Toulouse, France.
Excellent beer,Grimbergen, spoiled only by a desperate
Boro performance.

Where were you drinking ? Would have popped in to have pint with you instead of watching it on my own. Grimbergen is decent beer - like the Amber one.

quite laughable some of the comments in this thread saying no better season haha

i'm sure we'd rather go through the league 2 season or getting beat off blyth in the cup on national TV as opposed to beating city and getting to playoff final.

Mock them yes, saying they had same type of season is embarrassing

There's more than a couple of people above suggesting Boro's season was no better than Pools.

Pub was on boulevard de Strasbourg near to
rue Denfert-Rochereau. Had Guinness sign outside
which normally means I avoid it.
Very nice pub with great selection of beer.
Wanted Boro to win but they seemed to be big game bottlers.
Would certainly go in this pub again if ever I am in Toulouse

Just goes to show how sneaky the power of suggestion is (says I, the person who sneaked in first).
The point was they won shitloads more matches than us, got to a final just like we did ten years ago and thought it was great, but they still start next season with 0 points in the second division.
Of course I'd swap that for a great escape any day, but so what? Every club in the football league bar two had a better season than us.

Ya can tell the kids are off.

How anybody can compare pools with Boro is beyond me. They have a mega rich chairmen who backs each and every manager, the latest with million pound signings, they get a loan player from Chelsea who's voted the best player in the league. In comparison we have a owner who spemd fuck all and we loaned in marvin Morgan. Howay give ya head a shake.

In no world can pools be compared to Boro on a serious conversation.

As I said Boro will start next season in the same league they began this 1 in. They won't have vossen and they certainly won't have bamford. They had a huge chance to go up and they blew it. Next year I don't see them making the top 6.

As for pools with the ambition ior have we can be compared with nobody really. We finished 90th out of 92 and had a pitch invasion to celebrate. This alone explains an awful lot

Sounds like the Melting Pot. Didn't know they had English football in there and it was terrible when I first moved here. Thanks for the review though - I'll give it another try now.

Bonjour M. Toulouse.

It was the melting pot showing Sky Sports. Not a bad pub. 6€20 for a pint of Grimbergen blond so ok with current rate of exchange. In Hendaye now on way to ferry home from Bilbao. Hopefully to have some proper beer in the Rat Race next week
