Why are Pools not doing it this season?

https://www.seasonticketfinance.com/about

Brentford, Bristol City, Chesterfield, Kilmarnock, Millwall, Notts County, Reading, Shrewsbury and Stevenage are.

I've tweeted the club asking why these so called regulations only affect us.

"With stricter regulations governing the Club acting as a creditor on behalf of fans now in place, the Club are unfortunately unable to offer the Zebra Finance payment option this year."

That's quite odd, do regulations only affect us?

9 clubs in england and Scotland using the company shouldn't mean that we should. I'm not saying we shouldn't but you can't just say oh these clubs use it so why aren't we?

You could also say it just adds to the long list of excuses and people to blame that gets wheeled out from time to time.

But we previously used it and it was popular. We've now been told we can't but others can. If Pools had just said it wasn't viable for them then it would have been fine, it's the fact legislation has been blamed but other clubs still use it.

The club will be making no further comment at this time.

What if there was some new legislation that made it more onerous or risky for the club that had made them decide it wasn't viable? Say for example having to underwrite the finance if people didn't pay? Or having to pay the VAT up front?

As usual, the club simply communicating with the supporters and letting them know reasons etc would stop all this.

They never learn and never will.

H.u.f.c. Or should I say I.o.r. Always adhere to the rules and regulations no matter how vague they seem to be, a lot of families of pools fans will find it hard to come up with money

They have responded to my tweet

"The Club no longer have the relevant credit licence due to the introduction of stringent laws around this"

So stringent that other clubs still have the licence?

They don't need a credit licence as they're not offering credit. Zebra finance are and it is them that will need FCA approval.

Am I right in thinking that this was a 0% finance deal last season?

If so then the reason is staring back at you. There is no such thing as free finance. All that happens is that the price is loaded to cover it or the seller pays it. Clearly Pools didn't want to pay a finance broken x%. I can't blame them to be honest.

I'm going to see how it goes, I had the same thoughts last year about id only get one if we show signs of improvement with transfers etc.. I ended up caving and getting one on the last day. I'm going to put some money aside they decide nearer the deadline.

They are, it's just people have things like mortgages and food to pay for so can't afford 3 lumps of £90 over summer.

True, it's a real bolt out of the blue by Pools putting season tickets on sale in the summer without any advance warning to allow people to save up for them.

Proper ccunts trick.

To be fair not many people plan for a 40% price hike across the board. Not so bad if you are rich or only have yourself to buy for, but for anyone in a situation where money is tight or having to buy for the family its still a fair old chunk to find. A family of four and you are looking at an extra 200 bar.

I can afford it and only have myself to worry about, but even so I'm not in any rush to get one, as I need to see evidence the team is going to be a hell of a lot better to justify that hike. Id also like to see a public statement of intent from Ken Hodcroft that he plans to stick around beyond August.

Maybe some people were expecting to be able to use the 10 month finance plan again

I have followed pools for nearly 40 years and love the club. I have used zebra for quite some time now as it suits my finances. I live in Newcastle and travel to nearly every home game which is not cheap, taking this option away is really going to affect me financially restricting me to games this season. I wonder how many others(good poolies) are going to struggle , why oh why pools(ior) spoil things
