"Nelson joined Pools in the summer of 2003, a £70,000 signing from Bury"

Ah remember that. Money being spent on promising young players. The very fact we are 12 years later looking to resign Nelson instead of finding a new Nelson shows how far the club has fallen.

Keen to keep working for another year and probably worryingly cheap as a result. Be sensible to get an experienced head alongside Harrison but I'd be hoping for somebody a couple of years younger.

surely if Moore wants him then everyone should be happy to support the managers judgement.

Saying on tees this morning that Jonathon Woodgate is mulling over his future at Boro, at 35 an experienced head alongside Harrison?

No for me. Too old and wasn't that brilliant when he left us! Mirfin on the other hand could do a job for 12 months.

I'd have him back but only if he shaves his head with one of them five-blade jobs.

Mirfin you see doesn't have to. Advantage Mirfin.

but it's a message board for opinions. surely we aren't going to sign nelson.

sorry but it just seems to be either a) lazy journalism or b) a sign of how the budget is being cut again which will probably result in an even worse squad.

He looks old but he only turned 30 last month.

Thought so, got more than a year left in him surely. Exactly the sort of signing we need however were unlikely to get.

My top 4 targets would be Mirfin, Williams,Dolan and Bingham.

Williams would be my main target. Expect he will be released. Didnt do much at Coventry or Peterborough but got impression he was someone who would thrive on being the main player in a team so to speak. Seems good mates with Walker and Harrison and maybe happier in the area.

No doubt we cant afford him like.

we should be able to afford him, just obviously be tight with wages so won't get him.

young players with sell on potential should be who we are signing. Mirfin as experienced head for harrison. Them 4 would still mean we need another 5/6 players, especially if the 4 left to decide go

Realised my mistake as soon as I wrote it. It'd be good to see a Mirfin come in with experience but also still some legs but he still has a year at Scunthorpe if I recall being thanks colonel, I hadn't realised I didn't have a say in the signings we make how very foolish of me.

This has to be lazy journalism! If not, why no mention of the bad feeling at the time of his leaving?

So, who is going to start the 'Boydy wants to return' rumour?

Nelson would be the 1st name on my teamsheet

However, I've been awake nearly 24hrs now with very little sleep, but I also think Dire Straights are a good group and voting Conservative is a good thing

Personal Woodgate would be an excellent signing (will never happen though as he is too good to drop to our level)... Nelson, I don't know -haven't seen him play consistently- the fact he has been released by Cambridge may be an indicator, but then again so was Bird and I'd be fine with him coming.

Aye because we have had a great track record with ex Boro injury prone defenders.

Don't think a player that has played for Real Madrid would be thinking of ending his career at Pools!

Beardsley ended his career at Pools, fair enough he never played for Real Madrid but still..
