We've got a memorable games thread but it started me thinking about good performances against us I can't think of many that were great but I agree with Harry Walter Mitty Shithead's assessment of this performance.

http://www.theguardian.com/football/blo ... eil-mellor

Can anyone think of others who deserved praise from both sets of fans?

That Blackpool striker who we later signed and was utter gash. Can't think of his name?

and Dani Shitu for someone in the play offs too.

Incidentally he just got released by someone, even though I reckon the play off game when he had the whole of our team in his pocket was about 20 years ago it seems.

Peacock played at the Vic for Hereford in 1989, December 2nd to be precise, Pop Robson was caretaker manager we lost 2-1.

Tony Currie took us apart. He could have played in his best suit and dress shoes for all we got near him. The rest of the Leeds team weren't that far behind him. Their goalie might warrant some criticism for failing to save both penalties.

I remember Chris Waddle being different gravy against us.

For Sheff Wed that is not his appearance for Torquay when he was just a fat bloke stood on the half way line

Gazza must be worth a mention as well for his 4 at White Hart Lane, he was a half decent player to be fair!

I might be wrong but Paul Gascoigne away to Spurs trumps all of the above.

That ginger Lewington left back for MK Dons always seemed to get man of the match against us. Would have loved to have signed him in his prime.

I remember Adam Lallana taking the piss out of us 7/8 years ago for Southampton at the Vic. No one could get near him.

Gabbiadini was always a nuisance, but I remember Dean Holdsworth standing out as different class for Brentford when we first got promoted with Murray's team back in the day.

Let's flip this round then, which Pools players would opposition fans mention if this thread was on their board?

Adam Boyd
Paul Dalton

Think Martinez played against us for both Wigan and Chester and always looked decent. What was his Spanish team mate called again?

Il add that black French Carlisle centre half to your list. No idea what his name was mind.

Glenn Naylor and Andy Collett for Darlo.

Keith Walwyn and John Byrne for York ripped us apart two games running, once at the Vic, then at Bootham Crescent last game of season.

Who was the lad for Rochdale who scored twice in the game Tommy Widdrington scored twice for us? 2-2 draw? Mc something. He was very good that day.

The Spurs team at White Hart Lane was a special one too, back in the days when teams put out their best squad regardless of the opposition.

Bergkamp was labeled a flop waste of money at the time of the first leg and failed to score at the Vic. I remember Bruce Rioch walking away from his post match interview when questioned about him. He scored 2 in the second leg when Pools fans got a high profile bite out of him he went down injured at the clock end and we were chanting 'what a waste he money' at him and gave us back a 4-0 with his fingers! They were already 3-0 up from the first leg and Rioch played a completely full strength team. The game turned into an excercise were they just trying to John Jensen to score as he never had, he was shooting from all over the shop! It actually was Arsenals worst season in the 20 years they finished 5th Wenger got the job the season after and the rest in history. Bergkamp turned out a proper waste of money didn't he!!?

What a ground Highbury was, they don't make stadiums like that anymore. The pitch was unbelievable.

Pools are missing 6-0 pre-season drubbings by Prem teams. We usually follow them with a good season.
The barcodes slaughtered us when Neale Cooper was brand new to Pools and the outcome was Gavin Strachan getting a deal.
