I dont have a party. The lack of support for the Tories in scotland is historically down to the greater numbers of people considering themselves as working classes rather than middle class, they have been on a hiding to nothing for years and have pretty much given up.

I didn't say any of that though, i said it was being sold off at a profit, the selldowns that have happened so far have been to instituional investors, and at a higher amount per share than the Government paid for it. Others may also make profit on the deals, but the bottom line is that the government is getting back more money than they invested.

The "bailout" was in the best interests of anyone who has any loans, credit cards or mortgages, so most of the members of the public. If the banks had collapsed, then the first port of call would be for them to recall all mortgages, most people wouldn't be in a position to repay their mortgages on demand, I know I certainly couldn't get anywhere near repaying mine, so there would have been a huge amount of house reposessions. would have been complete financial meltdown.
