Well done but I very much doubt anyone even knew you were playing, or cares.

Well they're now in the same league as Blyth Spartans. For a club that was out of business a few years ago I take my hat off to them. Well done lads.

They are now in a league where the jumpers have to be matching before the game can start.

Well done - although not sure why one of your first thoughts minutes after promotion was to post it on here

Wrong again pj! One of yours posted earlier in the week about us. Plus one season nearer till we get our Derby!

I wonder how you remember to breath at times? Why don't you just reregister under a different name on our board? Something like "the ghost of PJ poorlie"?

Not really, he said it was bizarre that your first thought, after the club you love was promoted, was to post on an unrelated teams message board. I can't disagree with him, last time we got promoted I celebrated heavily with no thought to any other teams, not even your old club.
Can't knock your rise though, you'll be playing at the same level as a team that knocked us out the FA Cup. I expect you'll start finding it a lot harder now. The higher you go, the smaller fish in the pond you become and players won't be so keen to jump on board.

To be fair, they'll be a slightly big fish in that league next season so they'll probably be looking at a play off push. It'll get tougher in the Conference North though, if or when they get there.

Piss taking apart, much as I wouldn't mind the derby being resurrected, where the fook would it take place. And I'm not talking about OUR "four bus shelters".
Serious answer sought.

Who actually cares? Darlington to me are dead it's a part of our history I love and had some brilliant and awful memories of playing them but like the memories they are in the past. Even if we ever did play them it isn't the same they arnt the same club and it would be like drinking non alcoholic larger? Tastes the same but you know it's not right.

Can't agree Compo. A club is its supporters. They are the only constant in a club's history, whatever crap the owners of the moment are into.
If the people who support Darlo 3.14159 are the same who supported the club that was taken away from them, for me it's the same club.

Yep, still the same sad wankers who come on here rather than enjoy the moment!

Got to love them, makes me feel like I support a big club! For a while this season it looked like they could of been our big neighbours.

Yes it's great to see Darlo managed to get to the same level as Ramsbottom who blew them away last year, yes massive well done and a gate of 2000 for a small club is in the words of their fans brilliant

I wouldn't say I'm happy about this, but it does mean they are closer to coming back to our level, and therefore hopefully we will have a proper derby again some day.

Looking at former league clubs who've started again from scratch, Darlo are following the path burned by Newport, Wimbledon, Aldershot, Chester, Halifax etc - it really can be done.

Being realistic it's going to take us to fall a division or two (probably two) to meet them in the near future. The simple fact is they don't have a ground yet and the one they moving to isn't even close to being adequate for a decent level of football.

You've got to respect what they've done so far but it's going to be a long road back and I'm not sure with a fan owned club they'll ever get near the League again it's going to take some extra investment from somewhere. All of those clubs had somewhere adequate to play at.

I think they'll be able to do it without investment, as long as they start being sensible with their income. I would prefer Darlo in the league to the likes of Fleetwood, Crawley, Stevenage etc.

How?

Football grounds cost a lot of money.

Without outside investment where is a Football League graded ground coming from? Sadly those clubs you mention have had pot loads of cash thrown at them. I'd much rather Darlo were in the League than clubs like that. A club in the North East of England with a hardcore of about a 1,000 who are fan owned and don't have a ground have ceiling way below the Football League.

I'm sure one day we will play Darlo 1883 but I don't see it in the next 15 years unless someone with money buys them or we go pop.

A lot of our fans think fans owned will never work.
I got into an argument with a fellow poolie yesterday.
He said if it wasent for ior pumping loads of money into the club we would of got relegated. He said hodcroft n green dont draw a wage from the club and going fans owned would kill the club.
After ten minutes of arguing i ckuldnt get thru to him how bad ior are so had to walkaway.
Its these ior lovers who are worse than ior and holding our club back.

As for these other fans owned clubs they have a lot more ambition than pools.

Of course they can work, they already do at this level but the Darlo situation is a different one as they are starting from scratch with absolutely nothing which is going to make the road back for them longer than all of those clubs mentioned earlier. They all started with something quite important; a ground.

Darlo are moving back in town next season ground sharing with a rugby team. Good luck to them the sooner we get the league derbies back the better for both sets of fans!

As for our ground i dont have a problem with it being council owned.
Its just another pathetic excuse from ior not to invest any money into the team. They probably think Ronnie is some kind of magician who can get us promoted next season using loan players.

If ior want the fans back on side then they have to back ronnie properly.

I was talking to PARMO yesterday and his reasons for not using the bunker anymore is that he cant be bothered to get into arguments with the braindead fans who are still behind ior.
He wont be renewing his season ticket as ior wont get anymore money out of him. This is a lifelong fan of 40 years who has just had enough .
Far play to the lad he probably wont be the only one to protest this way.

I think the fans need to be given some credit here.

1000 fans attend matches way down the football pyramid - generating income - would we have that level of support?

A hard core of fans battled on to bring the club back - paying off debts as they went, supporting them as they played out of town. - would we be arsed to do the same?

Fundraising and volunteering to the benefit of the club - all we've seen with the launch of the Trust is backbiting and the proposed launch of a different trust with all funds being handed to Russ...

They've got what they deserved and may even continue to climb the leagues - if we stick with IOR, we will get what we deserve.
