I loved this programme as a kid, and I reckon my oldest is the right age to appreciate it now. It's on Youtube, so no doubt he'll be walking round shouting 'where ya goan now?' like I used to.

The book is great too. Robert Westall was one of my favourite writers growing up as a kid, and I shared The Machine Gunners with my Year 8 class this year. They loved it.

We did the book at school too, really enjoyed it.

It seemed like the only kids TV programme at the time featuring kids who didn't have cockney or posh accents. There's loads now thankfully.
