Thanks for the reply. I have emailed the club voicing my concerns about the Bob Marley Fancy Dress day at Carlisle, I don't expect a reply.

Well I got a reply !

Thank you for your email.

The Club has no input on the final day fancy dress theme and plays no part in the organisation.

We do not have any pre-discussions with those who organise the day out and we do not have the authority to control what people or supporters choose to dress in for any football match.

We will always publish uncensored news about the Club and supporters on our website but this does not necessarily represent our views.

We thank you for getting in touch with your concerns but if you have any further comments or questions we would suggest that you direct them towards the organisers of this event.

Best regards
For and on behalf of
Hartlepool United FC

Sir/Madam,
The club should withdraw its support and contact the organisers of the proposed Fancy Dress for Carlisle, Bob Marley. It's a 'ticking time bomb' and the ante racism groups will have 'field day' it is also in 'bad taste' as the club currently have 4 black players on the books, please have a rethink as Hartlepool United could be in the news but for the wrong reasons,

'Nowt to do with us ' would have sufficed.

Where was their coverage of the Trust meetings then?

What other uncensored news have they ever published?

that line is a load of bollox.

Plus i dont the official site is the place for news like this as any news on the official site is presumed official and linked to the club.

It certainly doesn't read like just reporting a bit of news and if the F.A do take the view this is racist then it will be club that will face the actions. Hence a bit surprised that they seem to be washing their hands of this matter.

There is a post on another website, one of our black players has tweeted about the fancy dress, judging by the tweet he ain't happy about it! Time to reconsider the theme for me.

Can't see anything on any of the current black players Twitter, other than Marvin Morgan retweeting a photo.

Because we didn't have any penguins playing for us back then.

Had a message from Pools so in the interest of fairness I'll reply to this, Pools will publish details of the trust and meetings providing they're sent over

'A ticking time bomb', Jamie1952?? For goodness sake, get a grip of yourself it's a few fans getting dressed up. Getting dressed up as Bob Marley is in no way derogatory to anyone of black origin; on the contrary, it is recognition of a legend. Would the pc brigade be up in arms about anyone of African descent donning whiteface getting dressed up as Elvis? (Elvis Presley not Elvis C) I very much doubt it. I'm off to throw my Coming to America DVD in the bin.

Morgan's none too happy about !! You can call some one jock, taffy, and numerous names I can't quote on the board but when it's about black people the odds are stacked against you with all the political correct people. Fortunately round this area racism has never been a problem so let's keep that way and forget about the Bob Marley thing.

Pools may have washed their hands of it but does anyone know the views of Carlisle United and the local Police.
People could be turned away, coaches could be stopped outside Carlisle, People could be arrested for alleged Racism.
I think the organisers need to think again or at least check with the powers that be in Carlisle.

It's not my fight because I can't go because of a family commitment but may I just say this;

If people go in banana suits they are looking for trouble and will find it.
If people go blacked up like a minstrel they are looking for trouble and will find it.
If people go singing in a Jamaican accent in a Jim Davidson stylee they are looking for trouble and will find it.

If they go in hats, shirts and trousers in Jamaican colours they'll probably be alright but some Jamaicans might get upset.

In my view this choice is fraught with danger but hopefully there is no grief. Given thats its in Carlisle theres a good chance there won't be but that wouldn't be the case elsewhere in the country.

5 lads in Pools strips might get jumped on too, but 200 fans as Bob Marley well maybe Carlisle fans might think twice before starting anything 'all for one and one for all'

Then again all this maybe hot air and nobody will give a toss after this weekend when we stay up anyway.
