Having not seen Pools for a good few weeks this awful game put League 2 into perspective - what a rotten division and if Newport are play off contenders with 2 good left side players it says it all.

First half Franks looked lively and made the second with a great run and shot off the bar which Hugill bungled in. The first goal was a comedy of errors between the keeper and centre half.

Both goals as a unit we gave too much space away and did not have players compact enough side by side. The first we got pulled apart in the centre of midfield and for the second not enough defensive cover between Austin Harrison Walker and Featherstone

Featherstone and Tish were the only two footballers on the park who both got it down twisted turned and passed to feet and Mirfin defended really well. Flinders made two good stop at the end and was lucky to get away with a what appeared to be a bungling over of their striker after one stop. The most amusing thing was I was sat with the home supporters behind the dug out who gave Marlon massive stick, but we will never get a ref so pro Pools again every little shove by Newport he spotted yet he missed a blatant body check on Franks on what looked like Pools only second half break away. Good sub by Ronnie to take off Harrison who was lucky to stay on the pitch after some afters in the box following several tussels with their forward.

A truly awful second half but thank god for Mirfin and Flinders. Thank god also for a Stevenage equaliser.

Cheers for the report mate. We've had a bit of fortune lately and it's made a massive difference.

I particularly like the line "Hugill Bungled it in", I'm getting images of him in a big bear suit running off to celebrate with George and Zippy.

When I read 'both goals' I was expecting descriptions of the two we scored! As defensively they looked worse than the two we did which looked like, to by fair, two decent finishes.

For those who went is Newport's ground as big a shit hole as it looks on the telly? In looks like Maidstone or Aldershot circa 1990, or in Aldershots case now!!

No - we were in the usual end of the new stand. It was Newport fans behind the goal (though most stand at the bottom of the opposite stand).

Ball to feet must have been at a different game to BBC Tees commentators as they said the Newport players got away with murder.
He's right about the standard of football though,I haven't seen one decent footballing side.

I agree! not that bad, love the big long old stand down the side, no way can it be compared to Maidstone or Aldershot. Like you I like the old grounds with character, makes me laugh when I hear our fans slagging off the toilets at York, you would think the Vic was like the Emirates
