Well, football fans are crazy aren't they? After throwing my towel in after Dagenham, I gambled and decided the Morecambe result might be the turning point. Full day at work and then jumped in the car for the 100 mile trip to Oxford. Here's my match report......

The all fooking fought, battled and ran themselves into the ground, we got the goals at vital times, rode our luck a little, but all in all it was 10 times better than the shite served up at Dagenham a couple of weeks ago. For all Franks has his critics, he's very good at hassling central defenders and boy does he have an engine in him.

Flinders, flapped at one which could have cost us, safe hands the rest of the game
Austin, Jonny on the spot for the penalty rebound, steady away for the rest
Harrison, TANK
Mirfin, his experience is vital to us, although he looks quiet
Jones, too many long balls in the first half, looked nervous, settled and had a good second half
Duckworth, watched by his extended family! tidy away
Featherstone, I really like him, so comfortable on the ball, not as progressive as Woods, but doing a grand job
Walker, he's back, looked knackered after an hour, but showed the form of last season, driving runs, good touches
Tishibola, coming back into form, he's strong on the ball and shows some clever touches at times, linking well with Featherstone
Bird, worked worked worked, good strike for the first, he'll be off penalties after giving the keeper an easy save
Franks, excellent, hesitated with one chance in the first half, but rest of the game he closed, created, harassed, motm.

Great night, forget the rest, we can only win one game at a time, lets keep this run going.

“Me and Franksy worked as hard as we could up front to relieve some of the pressure.

“It is only 90 minutes – some people have to work proper shifts grafting all day – but my legs had gone at the end!”

That's what I like to read.

Agree with most of the above. One mistake aside, Mirfin bossed it at the back with Harrison. Tish relieved the pressure at really important times and it's probably the best I've seen him play. And Featherstone looked so calm on the ball in the middle.

Thought Austin had a fairly poor evening actually. He didn't look like winning many headers and seemed to be bottling it a few too many times for my liking.

Apologies if it has already been posted elsewhere

Anyone know how the ref is? Never seen one stretchered off before.

I heard someone say Walker caused it but he is nowhere near the ref when he goes down??

I read he'd dislocated his knee cap, he ducked out of the way of two players, seemed to get his studs stuck in the turf.

Get in Aussie - never even realised he stayed up on the edge of the box for penalties.

Next, a headed goal from Scott Harrison would be very acceptable.

Austin is our usual penalty taker isn't he? I wonder if he was forward assuming he was taking the spot kick and figured he'd just stay up there when he wasn't.

Bird was in discussions with Tish about taking it. Tish didn't put up much of a fight though. I'm sure he fancies a goal.

A couple of seasons back I saw a rugby referee (in a match I was watching on the telly) get his leg broken when standing too close to a ruck. Snapped clean in two, tib and fib. It was pretty impressive. Luckily for him it healed fine.

Stop about 10 seconds from the end if you are squeamish.
