If we're going to do this we need several things;

A group of people who commit to attending the initial meeting.
A date which gives everyone enough notice including exiles. Last time the meeting was held with 24 hours notice. I suggest next Saturday lunchtime.
A location.
A nominated chair. Someone who has a calm head and can keep the meeting on track.
An agenda.

First things first:

Who will commit to attending a meeting at a nominated time and date?

I would also suggest getting someone along who has been through this and will be able point us in the right direction

I will be there. I'm sat with a few mates now who will go if it's next Saturday and they're not on the bunker.

I won't. The thing is, a lot of people on here wallow in some sort of self importance and beleif themselves to be a big cog in the machine, superfan to quote someone else.
You're not important, you won't be listened to

So what

Really helpful that. Is that the same attitude that got Exeter City to the point they are at? Or that Accrington Stanley, Wimbledon and a few others do a lot better than us on lower crowds and less income?

The irony!

Do something or do one. This isn't about individuals...individuals are ruining our club. This is about the fans getting together to secure the future of the club. Ideally by taking control if enough funds can be generated but your attitude will achieve fuck all.

You can't achieve less than nothing. Stop being so frigging stupid.

If you want to let the club die then piss off out of this thread, go to see Russ and rock back and forth saying everything's alright.

It isn't alright though I know that. All I suggested was that a collection of self important people getting together and thinking they can save the world isn't going to work.
Don't tell me to piss off. That's just not nice

Getting back to subject...this is what we need to aim towards.

Selling membership in a trust and using this to benefit the club either through ownership or investment.

Like I said on Friday...we need a lawyer to be involved from the start. Any volunteers?

Let's learn from the mistakes made by the Loids - and from their successes.

And to throw a spanner - I would try to involve Ken - NOT Russ - Ken is the man with the proverbial keys - and he is the guy who has had his hand in his wallet.

A man who has systematically damaged the club and undermined a series of managers, would need to leave with immediate effect, and anyone who thinks otherwise would want sectioning under The Mental Health Act.

The more hostile the better!

We need Ken to know we're serious and to keep things amicable if we're going to stand any chance of a fans takeover. Without the debt being wiped it simply won't happen.

Would love to be involved, can't make next week as am going to Portsmouth. The 14th is my lads b/day and he's taking a mate to the Stevenage game so can't make that (his mate isn't a Pools fan and probably not that exciting for either of them)...and I live on the East Coast near Hull so 'nipping' to The Vic isn't an option....is there anything that can be done to include people in a similar position to me?

To be honest, my main involvement was bucket rattling, you don't need lessons on how to do that, its quite easy if you have a loud mouth and don't mind the odd sarcastic comment :-D
Pete however was heavily involved with setting up the trust and also in the early days of the current set up so will be an ideal person to get advice from.
Whatever you do, you need to get cracking on with it because this 4 months will fly by, especially when legal stuff has to be done. I said the other day that this should have been actioned last year before the supposed takeover even happened. You lost 2 months straight away by not doing anything about it.

Sorry, that wasn't clear. The "more hostile the better" comment was made in jest as I'm sure that's how the majority of fans feel as they watch their club destroyed.

I wonder how freely people will throw money into buckets when a fair amount still have their head in the sand when it comes to the current state of the club.
I'll admit the optimist in me took me a good 2 weeks before any real doubt set in about TMH 2014. That's not to excuse the previous years not doing anything while IOR let the club disintegrate.
Thanks for the support loan_star and any other 1883 fans. If the fans trust works out I won't be too shy to admit our former rivals played their part in helping us.

When Darlo went out of the league someone of the more sensible posters watched it with regret, me included (well apart from the sensible bit). I think the reverse is happening now which only goes to prove yet again that theres no difference between a Loid and a Hanger other than an accident of geography during at the point of birth..

Lets be honest, right now we know very little for certain apart from there is a lot of rumours. I overheard a steward telling someone that Harris was banned from the ground and they were to be on guard if he showed up so presumably that is true. IOR had stopped putting money into the club in recent years and initially Harris confirmed this and said its pretty much running itself so any extra pretty much would be for new players. However, if Hodcroft is putting money in the club then I take back all the expletives I used about the man!

I still think a supporters group would help no matter what happens in the instance the worst case scenario does happen. In principle I would go along with the consensus opinion but obviously its difficult before details are decided

Hodcroft isn't putting anything in. Pools are running on transfer fees and gate money. Precisely the reason that Collins was sacked aftert the Blyth game, Russ and Ken would have already spent the takings from the next round and were well pissed off that they had to redo their sums.

It will be announced as soon as the transfer window is shut.

Some good comments here.....reflecting realism and practicality.

One of the Loids makes the fair comment about 'us starting too late'.

Folk have questioned whether people will open their wallets.

And is it all just a rumour?

Why don't we, using the SA facility, open a trust account - now - and start collecting cash on the basis that it will be repaid if nothing happens? This will show Ken that 'we' are serious - it may attract corporate supporters - and, crucially, it will measure the real interest and support from the Bunker, ITB and the Town....

There is a lawyer on the board and several beancounters - surely this could be started relatively quickly?

People are right when they say it is obvious what is going on. Or isn,t going on more accurately.
What we don,t know is what is going to happen in the near future.
I think plans to get the supporters together is a good idea, as there is nothing to lose by going down that route in case the worst scenario happens.

Agreeing with Brian's left foot about using the SA to set up an account. While the situation is unclear the account could be to secure genuine fan representation through share ownership if new owners do arrive or to contribute towards outright fan ownership if we need to.

Virtual bucket rattling will help as well. I'm an exile so I don't suppose I can do very much to help in a practical sense but I'd be happy to send a regular payment into a fund like that - don't think I'm the only one in that situation.

And can I add a thank you to Loan Star and Quaker Pete - great to see that for some people being a football supporter matters more than local rivalries.
