Just finished watching this....

AMAZING....10/10!!!!

Written and directed by Michael Rossato Bennett, Alive Inside follows Dan Cohen on his quest to improve the lives of nursing home patients, especially those suffering from Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. Presently, patients are "warehoused" and fed medications to keep them sedated and manageable, still alive physically, but asleep inside, and no longer able to enjoy life. Cohen, a social worker with a technical savvy for how mobile devices can actually benefit mankind, is the founder of Music and Memory, two words that define this film.

Cohen's approach is based on findings of neurological scientists that we are hard-wired at birth to feel the beat (literally our heart beats) and the area of the brain that responds to, and recalls music, is one of the last areas of the brain to succumb to Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia.

Cohen visits with mainly Alzheimer's patients, but also patients suffering from other illnesses. He identifies the music most popular in their youth; personalizes this music into an iPod playlist tailored to each patient's interests; then puts earphones on these patients, starts their iPods, and watches what happens.

What happens is remarkable. People who are unresponsive suddenly become ALIVE INSIDE as the music awakens memories in their lives. They are happy again: smiling, talking, moving to the beat, and speaking in coherent sentences. They are remembering and enjoying life once again.

WATCH THIS CLIP AND BE PREPARED TO BE AMAZED....

I've just sorted an MP3 Player out for my Mam!!!!

(Gonna put this in a New Thread aswell cos not everyone reads this Thread)!!!!

Ive just watched 2 cracking films the first was

The Drop with James Gandolfini in his last film and Tom Hardy who I was never keen on but was brilliant in this, it is not a action packed film and is a bit dark and slow but has a cracking story to it. Well worth a watch

The next was 71
a story about a young soldier in Northern Ireland who gets separated from his unit and is hunted down by the IRA, I know a few on here served over there and wouldn't mind hearing there view I thought it was a brilliant film

Well before my time I'm afraid but I think the likes of Spender and Bresslaw might have a view. Here's the view from Arrse which contains a large number of guys who were there during those years.

I came on here to post the same thing, watched it last night and it was truly awful. The whole cast were lookalike actors for actual famous people and the story just got more bizarre as the film went on. In the end I was hoping he was some supernatural Jason type figure to at least mix things up!

A Fred was basically a brave spy / filthy tout (delete depending on which side you're on) An IRA/UDA/UFF/UVF etc member who passed information to British intelligence. Usually for money.

I watched '71 earlier today and to be honest I thought the setting of Northern Ireland was fairly incidental. It was basically an hour and a half of a good guy been chased by the bad guys. The MRF characters were believable in the main but their plan to kill a British soldier was ridiculous. The MRF were indeed very loose cannons but not to that extent.

A decent watch but it did get silly in parts. The conflict between the stickies (old IRA) and the provos was believable but to have the green army, the MRF, the stickies and the Provos all chasing around the Divis flats was just daft.

Birdman 6/10 clever cinematography but not my kind of film. About an old actors breakdown during his first broadway show.

American Sniper 7/10 enjoyable, typical american film gloryfying their military.

Imitation game 8/10 very good watch with only the soppy bits letting it down.

Just wasted 90 minutes of my life watching this pile of shite....

For some reason I thought it was gonna be a 'No Country For Old Men' type of film after reading some 'very good' reviews but by God it couldn't be any further from that classic....really really bad story with even worse acting....and to top it all 1 of the main characters is the spitting pop of Martin Platt....how the feck can you take a film seriously with Martin Platt starring in it....and feck knows how it's got 81% on Rotten Tomatoes....Terrible Terrible Film....0/10!!!! sadx sadx
