Will just have to trust Ronnie on this one, did he used to play for Stocktport when they were still in the league?

Hopefully Raynes opens the floodgates regarding new signings.

Ronnie will be excited about unleashing his new signing depending on weather we do get him that is.

Wonder if this rumour will cause as much of a storm as the Evans rumour

Might help lift the cloud that's been hanging over our defence for a long time now.

When he was in Spain he was mainly plain.

Need better than this, 82 games for a club every bit as bad as us over the last few years.

Raynes is set to sign for you.

The bloke is a fantastic no-nonsense L2 centre back and someone made for a relegation scrap. You'll love him I'm sure of that and his fight will make him a success.

His distribution leaves a lot to be desired, so doesn't fit into Appleton's style of play with us, but you should be very very happy with this signing.

I've seen him play a few times and he seemed ok - don't recall him standing out for being either shite or excellent, so could be ideal :)

Just agreed to have his contract cancelled by mutual consent.

But horden who has probably never seen him play said we need better than this.

For non-footballing reasons presumably? Must be the quickest in-and-out in the history of the club.

Oxford fan in peace.

Raynes has all the attributes to be a very good League 2 defender. He never really got a chance here unless there were injuries and every time he's stepped in and been an adequate replacement.

What I really like about him is his no-nonsense attitude, he isn't that quick but he rarely gets beat in the air and his positional awareness is great.

He's a really decent guy and I hope this move works out for him (if it happens)

All the best for the rest of the season, and we'll hopefully be visiting you next year.

Sounds like what we need, a defender.
Anything other than the cock flashing bar steward we play at centre back will be an improvement and best of all he has no Boro connection.

One more reason for hope and optimism this new year.

Maybe Mansfield had no money until they loaned a striker out.

Joking aside - if he's seen some of the vitriol aimed at the players on here from the home fans, is there any wonder he or anyone else would choose not to sign...

Jesus, a player signed last week and was being slated before he kicked a bloody ball for us....

He's probably just seen how much time some of these clowns spend on Twitter and sacked us off.
