Dagenham winning. Nobody to catch outside the bottom 2

we need to build a team for the Conference NOW. It is not a waste of money , we have to get the players anyway, let's get players in now for next season. How can we waste the second half of the season? Let's build NOW

The line between realism and defeatism is very fine indeed.

clarify your point?

if you think there's a hope of staying up, you have faith beyond all faith

my point is we need to build a team no matter what, because we can't afford to let players through our fingers who we may be able to sign right now, and are players who Moore wants

the club cannot use the excuse that we are as good as down, as a reason to not sign players

that was my point - although clearly you missed it

Yeah, it's gonna be dead easy signing good quality league players when we are heading for non league status.
I think Ronnie has already pointed this out.

we have even less chance of signing players if we finish the rest of the season as Mr Allez has said

we have to try and get some in and build for next season, and put some pride in the club for this one

We have to start building a team now to have a little sniff of a chance of making the conference top five next season.

If we dont then the club will lose over a 1000 fans for next season.

I'll clarify...this season is a forlorn hope. It's probably been that way for a while. I'd hope that the decision makers inside the club don't need to read that on here to realise this.

Cheltenham. Did I read right that Ronnie tried to bring in 2 or 3 players from Man U or Liverpool recently on loan but they chose another league 2 side?

I see Cheltenham had 3 players on loan from Liverpool today. Could well be the players we wanted.

You'll be alright, me and the bairns wear Pools duts/tops down here most days of the week and no-one says owt.

They just kind of look sympathetically and sidle away.

This. We would have had some talented players in by now had the club had the cash. Fact.

Solano. Beardsley. Howard. Pederson. They didn't have aspirations of playing for pools. I'm quite sure of that.

There are lots of variables at play - and one of these remains the question of which league we'll be watching next season - that means the club should probably tread carefully. Do we know who will be the team manager should we fall out of the football league? Do we have a clear idea of the players that will help Pools to recover? Do we know which of the current squad will be remain at Pools next season? Do we know if the club have developed a recovery plan and if so what timescales they are placing on a league return? Are we even sure that the decision makers at Pools share our aspiration to return to the league? In could go on, and I'm certainly not suggesting that inaction is the way forwards but I remain to be convinced that an incautious approach is required at this stage. The tiers below the conference are littered with the wreckage of former league clubs or previously strong non-league clubs that got their strategy wrong.

I know I've said it before but even Moore confirmed it this week that players don't want to come to a club bottom of the league and out on a limb geographically speaking. If they can get what they want cash wise elsewhere they will take it.
Harking back to our last season in the league, Staunton brought in young lads from Villa and Wolves as well as a bunch of nobodies from Ireland and Scotland and we got what we deserved. Two of the players, Jonathan Hogg and James Collins went on to do well at other clubs but they werent up for the scrap at the bottom of the league.
Moore will have his work cut out saving you from the drop and if he does then he deserves all the plaudits that will come with that.

If we genuinely had owners with an absolute shitload of money, getting players to sign would be a piece of piss. The problem for the last few seasons is that the club cant pay more than £800 a week basic, and nobody decent is going to play for that.

Don't ask me how fans owned clubs like Wycombe and Exeter get decent players, because I don't know, but the bottom line is that if you pay peanuts you get monkeys like what we have been signing for the last 6 months.

Nail on head! there will even be good players playing in the Conference North earning £800 a week, part time wage from club + what they earn from the day job. A lot of our players may actually be better off financially next season after being binned by HUFC. Unbelievable!

Its looking bleak, but I will officially give up at the end of the month, if we haven't managed to win 3 games in January. Can't for the life of me see it happening like.
