Taking the Mrs and little girl to Harry Potter studio tour in April.

The train prices are awful.

I know some of you on here travel a fair amount.

You could look at a family railcard, which gets you a third off all journeys taken in a twelve month. The card will cost about thirty quid but you will recoup that at least on a trip to Watford.
Booking your tickets as early in advance as possible will ensure you gat the best available price.
Look at single journeys as well as returns as sometimes there are savings to be made there as well.
Check internet prices as well as booking office prices.

I'll wait till Jan to look as everything from March onwards is £300+ just for the outward journey at the moment.

Wait til Mid Jan to get the cheapest return tickets to London for April. Either Hartlepool grand central or Darlo east coast.

Cheap tickets with East Coast are on sale now for week ending 6th March so just keep an eye on the east coast site for next few weeks, or you can whack your email address and EC will email when the dates you want are released.

I am convinced that people who work for the train companies buy these cheap ones cos I never ever get one, tgese days, even on the day of the cheap ones going on sale

The reason I say this is when I am forced to buy one, the seats on the train have reservations in the seats but the people never get on at any point. This happens loads, so the question is why would so many unpeople buy tickets and not get on?
Happens on every single journey I have made the past couple years

I was on the 4:50 last night out of Kings cross.....grand central.

I wandered up the train, as some daft twat on here kept ringing me, and there was loads of reserved seats not being used. Absolutely dozens of them.

Does make you wonder.

I concur. Whenever I have to travel by train I sit in a reserved seat until I'm told to move by someone in a position of authority. Hard as fuck me like.

I've heard what sometimes happens is that companies aren't sure which train their staff are going to be travelling on, so they book multiple seats for the same ticket. So, you might as well just sit in one and hope the rightful owner doesn't turn up.

Me and the Mrs went in October and I just drove, took around 4 hours and only cost about £45 in total for diesel.

I wasn't too fussed about going but the Mrs really wanted to, but I have to say it's a great day out, i think we were there for 3-4 hours

Conkering a very nice pint.. :). .. The other Beamish is not too bad either.. Need to send some of the working class Tories to remind them what their incredibly nice public schoolboy leaders are trying to reintroduce..

they know all too well, they just don't care

they never did, it's only because they were forced to give back to the workforce in the mid 20th century

now it's going back full circle, even the laws are reverting back to be loaded in their favour

In all seriousness have you checked the Megabus? If it's cheapest option you are looking for they are what you want. It's that cheap sometimes they give you money to go on it and when they are short staffed you have to take turns driving but it is cheap. Also my first and even cheaper option of walking offers more comfort than the Megabus but it is cheap*

*to get there by March on the Megabus you may also have to set off on Boxing Day as they are prone to break downs, don't believe stuff like Watchdog though very few journeys have ended in passengers having to resort to canabalism.

It once cost me £1.50 to get from Manchester to Middlesbrough using the megabus and 50p of that was a booking fee.

It is but you have to remember that its owned, run and operated by the Illuminati. Those shops are actually secret doors into their meeting rooms and those fields are only ever used for Lear jets flying in from all over the world. Mostly Washington and Tel Aviv.

Well spotted Parmo. Did you know that David Icke has written that there is a hidden door there which leads down to the seventh level of hell. Very Dante.

Cheap tickets get released 12 weeks before your date. Just been looking at them for Dag Red away in feb and were singles for 19 from Durham to London. Tuesday night though which balls it up.

Anyway aye, I'd check 12 weeks before. Also break journey up. Say singles to York, then York to Kings cross instead of direct. Sometimes works out cheaper. Did that last time I went to smoke, just a 15 min change at York and saved 30 odd quid.

Recommended the harry potter thing. Not a fan but got dragged along and its a cracking day.

Also don't use coaches they put on from Victoria as theyre fooking expensive. Get overground from Euston to Watford Junction, and there's official shuttle buses from there for a couple quid return.
