Not really a suprise, a bit of shame as we'll do well to replace with him with someone as good.

Good luck Chewbacca!!

I don't think he had a great season either, by his standards anyway. The best saves he made were obviously the penalties, and ones where he managed to get his body in the way of close-range efforts. I don't think he commanded his area that well this season.

Undoubtably a great keeper though and good luck for the future.

Best of luck to Dimi, he was a good keeper.

I am bit dissappointed his agent told the club and not Dimi.

Anyhow, I know others don't but I rare Jim Provett. No doubt we'll sign someone as well. Life goes on.[/i]

To be fair he was very shakey at the start and then had an inconistent spell at the end. But for the large part inbetween he was pretty good.

Yes but the thing is, if we sign someone as no1 keeper will Jimbo want to stay.

All we need to win this league is to have better than average players in every position.

Jimbo is better than the average goalkeeper.

Therefore the priorities are elsewhere.

Simple, see

Wait, wait, wait..................read it again.

Advised by the AGENT that Dimi has rejected a new deal. THERE WILL BE NO FURTHER COMMENT AT THIS TIME.

Now think about Ken, sorry, SIR Kens attitude to agents. Wait until everyone's spoken to Dimi. They won't talk to his agent but they've stolen his thunder by announcing it first. Remember the Nelson saga?? Remember the outcome?? Different in that Nelse was still in contract, ok, but who won that one??

Sir K did dealing with the same feller!!  THAT'S why it was announced on Sunday.

I agree with Kev - a strange announcement.

Makes you wonder whether Dimi has said he wants to stay at the club but wants a better deal. So the agent phones up Sir Ken and hey presto Sir Ken puts the announced rejection of the deal on the official site. Remember Dimi had to deny reports of a move from his agent in January. Methinks the fat lady hasn't started singing just yet.

Big question is how much is Dimi worth to Pools or are there better options out there for the same money. There do seem to be a lot of good keepers about - even in league 2. Does Dimi want first team football or does he want to warm a bench elsewher. Its his call and I guess we'll find out next week.

why would an adopted poolie want to give all that up to go and play for coventry reserves ?

I've said it before & will repeat it now - I think that Dim is as good a keeper as anyone up to the Premiership. From some of the displays I've seen from the so called 'good' keepers in the Premiership (Kirkland, Foster, Green, Robinson, Niemi etc.) all on tv, it has to be said, I think he is on a par with most & with top level training / facilities could hold his own at that level.
Finding a replacement will not be easy. As for good saves, what about the one at Darlo when the score was 0-0. If we had conceded then the outcome could have been very different.
If Dimi does go - and in fact reads this board, has he got any suggestions as to who should replace him / who has impressed him against us.
By the way Dimi - I love Greek yoghurt with honey & Greek olives - if you leave I don't think I could face eating either ever again.

I think most people's grumbles are with his agent (or agency or that prat at his agency), not with Dimi himself. Dimi is one of football's good guys, most agents (especially that Clive) are the bad guys.

Dimi will find his way, with or without us. Coventry is a bit of a bad move, but whose to say he's gone there?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQGlpC6k_qg , if Dimi does go on this board, he can watch himself in action with that video I made. Then Dimi...tell youself whether that's Coventry Reserves material. Yes, it's not...you should be someone's number 1 (such as our first choice).

Our lass lived in Coventry for the first two years or so of us seeing each other, so I spent a lot of time there.

I can confirm that it is not the nicest city in Britain. Before the war it was very pleasant looking at old photos of it.

The people are friendly enough, but there is very little in the way of nightlife. I reckon I probably spent about 50 weekends there, and we went out in the city about four times. Imagine the bottom section of Church Street spread over a square mile and that's about it.

However, there are loads of very nice towns around it where I suspect most Cov players reside. Warwick, Leamington (Mam, dad, sister and family now live there), Stratford, Kenilworth (grandparents now live there), plus dozens of plush villages.

The Ricoh Arena is on the outskirts of the city. I think the training ground is next to it. So unless he's a bit masochistic, Dimi would not have to venture onto the weirdest ring road I've driven on, into the concreteiest city centre I've ever seen.

I don't begrudge Dimi wanting to earn more money. I'll be sad to see him go, but he's been ace for us, and I think we will really miss him, whoever he is replaced by.
