Is this a new Yorkshire mafia or is the name Featherstone just coincidentally Yorkshire-like?

On football 365, joins us till January was with Walsall last season, signed for Scunthorpe, left without playing a game on non contract terms then played for Harrogate Town - I'll reserve judgement till I see him.

Sounds quite well liked on the saddlers forum, they generally feel he did well for them and gave some stand-out performances so I think he may be a decent acquisition!

No hang on a second, even though he's played 55 times in the last two years in League One he 'sounds like a reserve team' player. It has been decided without ever seeing him play....

I trust Paul Murray to sign the sort of player we need right now. If that happens to be a burly ballwinner then so be it.

Steady on outrage bus.

I've judged him at all, just a slight observation.

Hopefully he'll be a top player.

Awesome beard. There's a definite lack of facial hair in the modern game.

Remember it well I doubt he does.

Those two combined arguably kept us in the football league last season. So I hope his comments are a good omen.

But apart from that what the fuck has the World come were people are judging a footballer by his profile picture!!? Honestly what the fuck? None of you have ever clapped eyes on him. He could be built like brick shitehouse for all you know a fitness machine. No I've seen a picture from torso up and he looks 'chunky'

Let's watch him even warming up first eh??

Sidney Smeltz's faults anyone? Can anyone pick out any major flaws from his profile picture....

A reserve player? He played 29 times in league one last season - We are currently bottom of division four - short term contract were we have all to gain and bot all to lose....

From Murray's interview on Pools World we 'just' missed an exciting loan signing but will go back and another signing is likely next week.

It seems he does have scope to improve the squad, thank fuck.

Ditto to that , gutted to be missing tomorrows game. Whatever mistakes have been made with managers, signing players etc we are at a crucial time of the season - Haway the lads lets have 3 points tomorrow.....

He's signed two more players today than Yogi did in his entire tenure so it's the absolute opposite of the Hughes situation , which is what 'slightly' encourages me. It's obviously not bullshit and bluster he can sign a few players.

The Pools PR machine is learning as well.

I've joyously never heard the these three words out of Paul Murray's mouth yet 'Financial Fair Play' He's just talking about getting players in and making the team better. If he does remains to be seen but at least he has signed two lads who played in the division above the one were are bottom of right now last season.

If I look at a picture of someone who is 7foot tall, am I not allowed to say 'he looks tall' because that would be 'judging' him? sctatchinghead

I'd imagine his height would be a fact, saying he a lad looks chunky from one picture is ridiculous especially when in the picture the only visable weight is on his beard!

Not like you to write a player off before he's kicked a ball or you have seen him play.

The amount of games I watch I would be surprised if I hadn't seen him at some point. Not sure If I wrote Willams and Barmby off personally but may of mentioned the poor record of that type of signing such as Donaldson, Noble, and many others over the years.

It takes a shrewd football brain to predict a player will fail before he has even kicked a ball, and I have called that right on more occasions than not.

You don't have to always see a player play to know he probably won't make it, you just have to look at his history and that of our club to make a correct call, take Compton for example, people thought he would be inconsistent and he is/was.

If Featherstone was that good , why the limited amount of games, why would Scunny get rid of him then get Luke Williams on loan, I am wrong to think that he may not be as good as Luke Williams?. Why would Oldham get rid of Smeltz if he was that good. Thats what I base my decision on, common sense. There is always the chance these players could come good but it is slim, hence thats why we are propping up the league.

For the record I think these two might be okay, why? because I trust Paul Murray, he looks at the game in the same way as I do, realises teams need pace, mental strength, height etc at this level.
