Thanks for being man enough to step down.

You had one of the toughest jobs in the league, we know your hands were tied and you gave it your best shot.

I hope you've learnt plenty during your time here, and all the best for the future.

Lets just hope that whoever comes in has the balls to sort this club out from top to bottom.

It needs major surgery.

But I have been saying that for ages now.

Thanks Colin. Without the necessary support it was always going to be tough. Good luck and best wishes.

Fair comments. I wa ted him to succeed, but a combination of an arsehole of an owner and his own very limited ability has put us in this mess. Is it too much to hope that both Larsen and
Hodcroft get killed in a car crash together when they plunge down a ravine?

A manager isn't going to be able to sort this club out. Ken Hodcroft won't let him.

Gibson allowed Knowles to do what he needed to do. Hodcroft supported Turner to do something similiar.

Hodcroft won't allow anyone to turn it around because it would cost a fortune and he doesn't give a shit, and so therefore he won't employ anyone who will be strong enough to challenge him.

Sadly I believe the new manager will be a Hodcroft "yes" man and will suffer the same fate as Cooper, Hughes and Neale Cooper and Wadsworth before them.

It's 1989/90 again except we won't get the new manager we need and we don't have a squad with players with the quality of Nobbs, McKinnon, Honour, Dalton, Allon, Baker to which we can add a few more to with astute dealings and transform our confidence and form. The 4 key players then were Dalts, Honour, Allon and Baker who scored and or created the quality that allowed us to score for fun some games. We have fuck all creativity at this club and there is nothing anyone can do with Harewood, Franks, Compton to get them to score regularly.

This ^^^

Forgot to mention that in my rant. I hope he does well at a club who will give him the tools to do the job properly. Wrong club at the wrong time Colin, don't let this put you off......look at how well John Hughes has done since he left this shambles of a club.

Best of luck

well said Tim. Spot on in your assessment

Hodcroft won't sell or hand it over either... they need Pools for whatever reason.

So that's why I hope Mr Death taps the peroxide 'lovely lovely person' on the shoulder this week

as a regular attendee at the vic since 1977, I have seen more bad times that good, but the current shambles is possibly the worst ever!! it was hard to blame (some) chairmen/owners in the past who had the club at heart but had too little in the way of hard cash to realise their own ambitions for the club, never mind ours. but now we seem to have chairman/owners who despite having more funds available than any before them, don't seem to care what happens to this wonderful little club and its loyal followers. colin (reluctantly?)brought in money through transfers and reduced the wage bill as we all know(orders from the top?) , but was given little or none of this to build a team, you might as well have stuck a feather up his arse and asked him to fly!! thank you for your efforts colin, most of us realise you had no chance from day one..................................................I for one will give my full support to the new manager, whoever that may be,,,,,,, god help him!!

I remember seeing him and Hignett leaving the ground February time last year and they were laughing and joking and seemingly top of their game.

As I said on another thread I saw him leaving the ground on his own and locking up late on Thursday night, as I have done many times on my trips to Morrisons for a bit of shopping, and he looked to have aged about 5 years.

He came across as a decent bloke and he did the decent thing yesterday, going without any fuss. I hope things work out for him somewhere else, in truth he never really had much chance at Pools with the owners shafting him at every step.

I agree with this but I think it must be said that he isn't a good manager (yet) regardless of how much money he has had to spend.

Cooper seems a genuinely honest bloke and I liked him in his first season (mainly while Hignett was here) but it's clear it was Hignett who had the nouse to get the team playing
