Chinese football is in a parlous state. The season only got underway on a wing and a prayer when a brewery stepped in three days before kick off with some sponsor money. Their Premier League almost went out of business because someone at the CFA took it on his toes with all the cash. Chinese football is riddled with corruption. It had it's zenith back in the nineties when they beat Korea to qualify for the World Cup. They demolished the stadium that that momentous occasion took place in a couple of months ago. The bloke who raised the money for the statue of their manager of that time was invited to press the plunger on the demolition machine!!

There's only two divisions, and give them their due, Shenzen Kingsway are one of the top teams. But top as in not very top, really it's little better than Conference standard, all huff and puff. They produce some skill but they've got no tactics. All the kids play basketball here so they're useless with their feet. They all know Manchester United like and Davveeed Bekummm.

Shenzen itself is a bit north of Hong Kong, think Middlesborough but eight or nine times the size.

If they do come down, I'll be there in me Pools shirt giving it rice. Geddit? I said like 'Giving it rice.....' :roll:

Well the marker is that their National team came to England in February to train for a fortnight and played........Brentford and QPR. Both behind closed doors. :roll:

Indeed they did. They all got pilloried for it over here for bringing shame on the Nation until it emerged that it was QPR's trainer who'd sparked the whole thing and one of the Chinese lads was unconcious for 15 minutes. :laugh:

They hauled half of them home a week early. :razz:
