It's actually to tell you it's 40 once you get off the roundabout I don't think the expectation is for you to speed up just as you approach it! That road is 30.

Nice to see my little post got an even tempered debate going.

No6 is right. If your driving down from clavering you start at 40 then as you approach cemetery it turns to 30.

Very strange

Dibbles lying. His ice cream van couldn't do 43 ........ and if he turns that tinny theme tune on (Match of thr Day)....... it ends up virtually kerb crawling... I'll have s hard cornet.... no flake or monkey blood thank you.

I drove down there this morning.

I turned left at the roundabout past the saxon pub.

There is a sign that says 40. So I speeded up to 40 as quick as a I could.

Then slammed the breaks on just 150 yards up the road as it suddenly turns to 30.

My apologies to the car behind me.

But these experiments need to be carried out just to prove how fucking stupid the law makers are, and what cuntity not nice people the plod are for putting a van just beyond the sign.

Yeh, its all about health and safety.

So when you're going past a field it's 40 then some houses appear and it's 30? Imagine that!

You'd be alright anyway doing 18 miles an hour to show that pesky tailgater that two wrongs always make a right.

I encountered a glorious bellend on the road last night coming home from playing cricket at about quarter to ten I had just left the roundabout after Hart to head towards the Clavering/Tall Ships one when I heard a siren then spotted an Ambulance behind so I pulled in to let it past, the boy racer behind decided the way to go was not to follow suit but to overtake me and outrun the Ambulance!

I'm just glad it wasn't the Police as I'd had four pints.

Imagine admitting drinking and driving, I would suggest it is not big or clever and as your senses are already dulled, 4 pints would make you a crash test dummy and I hope you get caught before you kill someone!

you two half wits do realise that there are houses closer to the road where it 40mph compared to where it goes to 30?

Imagine that?

What the fuck has happened to this place?

I was driving north on the M1 on wednesday south of nottingham, before the scandalous 30 odd miles of road works where no 'lovely lovely person' works.

Anyway, I was doing exactly 70mph....well I was busting for a piss, so needed to take it steady.

I was then passed by three ploice motor bikes that must have been doing a ton at least.

Imagine my surprise when I pulled into the next service station and found the same three bikes parked up, and the riders enjoying a break.

Guess their coffee was getting cold.

there is absolutely no doubt that some police forces are in the business of supplementing their income, and when you strip it all back there is only a pretence about road safety. The ultimate proof of that is when they desperately tried to stop the speed camera detection systems... what more proof does anyone need than that? The motoring organisations fought like hell against the police for hiding speed cameras and not wanting to make the speed traps visible - on the very grounds of the safety the police were supposed to be promoting, yet were very reluctant to go along with when folks were actually going to be slowing down when they could see the cameras and speed traps, allegedly located in the areas of most concern for road safety

It's from when it was a school field... it's not like they built the houses then thought "I know, let's piss off Dibble and make him suspicious by suddenly making this stretch 40". It's been 40 since I lived down that was, at least 25 years that I can remember.

It's hardly a fucking conspiracy is it? If you're daft enough to get caught there then you deserve it.

Jesus wept. Its 40 where the school field is.

Not a conspiracy.
Just a stupid sign and 200 yard stretch of road that should be 30 all the way.

A nice little money spinner.

Now go away and write some rules and regulations

It's been there forever! If it's a surprise you're from out of town or a bit dim. Now I know you're from the town...

Mentioned before, been caught speeding... it's not clever and I've never done it since.

I have a fast car too, I don't need to prove it's faster than anyone elses by driving like a prick. Neither should you.
