Judging on that we might see players like Fletcher, Johnson, O'Shea and Larsson play.

Going to be consistent here.

I hate preseason friendlies.

And this talk of which sunderland players might play is daft. They will be at half pace, at best, and its just not important.

Anyone that pays for these games must have too much dosh.

Approx 55 Sunderland in Yates. All main lads. Buying 2 for 1 meals apparently NO chicken tikka masala left AT ALL. It's only half one. This is gonna be double naughty. Old Bill flat footed if you ask me. No sign of The General. Yoof on standby. CALLING ALL MOOSEMEN. REPEAT CALLING ALL MOOSEMEN.

Great no link to pools player on the football league app and the link in Brian Honours page isn't clickable.

It was 0.0 until they made 11 subs all at once and brought on the under 21s on, then they dominated.

Hey ho move on to the Borer

worrying how we caved in against U21 after 1 hour and created very little according to commentary

Our centre mid was very laboured. 1 defensive mid n a full back. Walkers wasted over on the right, he's neither right wing nor centre mid, Compton the same.

Hard to judge against PL players like.

No it isn't.

The players got minutes in their legs. That's all that matters in pre season.

It's hardly surprising that a team who made 11 changes after an hour made use of having fresh legs for the last half an hour 3 games into pre season when nobodies match fit. The result is completely irrelevant but if it's worrying we 'caved in' surely it's also encouraging we were 0-0 for an hour against the so called Premier League players? Having said that neither matters.

I absolutely hate that formation we use. Huge lack of natural width which means the centre of the pitch becomes crowded.

Agree with Yubep about the centre of midfield

well, after that result, i see no point in pools even carrying on to be honest. in fact, football is now obsolete.

Got to agree about the formation though, doesnt work and doesnt suit the players. Shouldnt we be building a formation around our best players in their correct position?

Walker is wasted away from the centre and cant imagine he is too happy about it.

You could argue we had 4 players starting out of position (Compton, Walker, Austin and Parnaby) and sadly League 2 footballers generally arent good enough to play out of position week in week out. The full backs are going to get even less protection due to having out of position players in front of them who are playing in a role that is neither here nor there.

Or maybe he wanted to have Miller and Parnaby in the middle to see how both did whilst thinking about moving parnaby to centre half and signing Miller up? We set up defensively to sit back and get fitness in a friendly. Walker had to go to the right to accommodate that. Nothing more to read into it IMHO.

True but he tried Walker there enough last season to suggest he thinks its a viable option.

I agree. But the poistion he plays him seems to be neither as a winger or a centre mid, kind of in the middle of the two and im not surprised he doesnt know exactly where to be.
