I like Dimi but I detest his agent. He needs to stop being a media-whore.

It's that Clive Hart at it again! The same guy, don't forget, that was Nelson's agent when all of the transfer request stuff kicked off a couple of years back.

It's notable that Hart seems to get his name into this sort of story quite frequently, and it's hard not to see it as Hart stirring things. Let's just say that I don't have a high opinion of agents in general, and people like Hart show why....

To be honest Agents have a role to play to get the best deal for their clients when their clients are out of contract. What I can't stand is when agents try to unsettle players when they are still in-contract. Players should be required to sign onto a restriction that would forbid them or their agents talking to other clubs until they are within say three months of the end of their contract. In-contract discussion should only happen between Chairmen (and third party owners in the case of West Ham).

I have just had a look on the FIFA list - just in case. Unfortunately he is a registered agent.

Interesting to see David Hodgson is back as a registered Football agent.

I was surprised to see Spain and Italy had more registered agents than England.

I always used to like the bloke before, especially when he did Morph and Chas. Now it seems he's just a c-u-nt.

Sadly the days of the maximum wage, players in flat caps and dads negotiating contracts are over. So long as agents are paid for by the players and don't take back handers from the clubs the players will detremine if they represent value for money.

Agents may have a role, but when the likes of Hart are doing what he's doing (ie constantly talking up other clubs being interested in the player he represents, even though they are still under contract for some time, using the press to effectively threaten clubs with losing a player unless they stump up more money, representing managers as well as players that could both be involved in the same transfer deal - as he was when he represented both Nelson and Peter Taylor at Hull and Hull suddenly bid for Nelson when the transfer request went in) it doesn't do a lot for their image. Certainly at the lower end of the game I think players would generally be better served by having someone from the PFA representing them - possibly as a benefit of their membership - and would only really need an agent once they were at a level where boot deals, advertising deals etc where a realistic prospect.

I agree Albatross which is why I said in an earlier post that agents and players should be restricted from speaking to other clubs until they are nearing the end of their contracts.
