I'd sign him TODAY, like now. Years contract. We need a bastard, we are too soft. Players like Walton are ten-a-penny. Players like Brown are a rarity.

Who can forget his free kick at Feethams on Saturday, 19th April 1997.

I'd sign him on for that alone!

Solano 37 when we signed him
Howard 36 when we resigned him

Maybe if we signed Brown it would be 3rd time lucky, it certainly couldn't be any worse than the two I've mentioned. And Hartlepool lad as opposed to journeyman as such, so I agree with Elvis if the rumour true then I certainly wouldn't have any worries over him coming here.

Pools have to sign him. We must have 1 over the hill 35+ player every season that we spend our whole budget on.

I think it is an insult to compare a superb pro with wasters like Solano and Howard. Wighdraw contact offers to Austin, Poole snd Sweeney and sign Michael up before someone beats us to it. Because he will be certainly in demand.

He certainly looks like he has looked after himself throughout his career and doesnt fit in the carthorse player type

Could be a good signing, my mate lives behind his parents might see if he can catch them over the fence and find out how much truth is in it

Can he still do a job? Or does he kick people more than ever because he's old and slower?

I'm not going to get excited about us signing a 37 year old clogger on good money who would give us no more in midfield than Walton or monkhouse.

About 19 starts last season, 5 yellows, subbed 6 times n 1 goal.

Absolute bang average.

Any other 37 year old centre mid on big money would get dismissed but as it's brown n he's from the town people seem to have this romantic view of him.

Deffo not advocating that, but I bet he will get a 2-year deal elsewhere.

I'd give him a years contract, and maintain that because he's from the town he wouldn't be another Howard, Elliott, Thompson etc etc...

He's all set to sign for his dad at the Lion on a Sunday morning been offered 5 pints a game, post match pie and waiving his subs for two years. Only stumbling block is they want him to pay his own fines.

Since your highly reliable source said we were resigning Dimi, signing Micky Rae and Steve Pears was our assistant then il take it the Brown move is a dead cert.

This was the Leeds fans' crack about Brown when their release list was announced in t'Yorkshire Evening Post:

11:08 PM on 16/05/2014
Michael brown had a good go at the end of the season but I'm glad we haven't offered him a new deal.

I would imagine his contract was 10k a week or maybe more and overall he's earned Fuc# all of it.

Realistically for every 10k leeds should be able to sign 2-3 enthusiastic young players at around 3k a week each.

Obviously we still need the midfield general and I would imagine signing a player to fill that role will be our biggest and most expensive issue.

I dont know what Brown earned but he was, sadly, one of our better performers.

If he was on anything like £10k a week last season can he really be coming to Pools this? Seems like he was still capable of doing the business on the pitch - at Championship level.

I've seen him play a fair bit last couple of years seeing as I live in Leeds. It depends what you expect of him really he's obviously not going to get up and down all game but he hasn't looked out of place in the championship playing the Walton role. Last year he ran the game against Scott Parker an FA cup tie against Spurs. Think the majority of times he gets subbed as he's on a yellow card or because theres no point having a holding player if your chasing the game.

I can't wait for someone to start a new thread titled 'Brown signs', which features pictures of signs for tourist attractions. If one of them is for the Andy Capp statue I think I might just come.

I think I'd probably rather have Michael Brown the England rugby player.
He is at the pinnacle of his career and I'm sure he could do a job for us.

fully expected brown to be linked with us as soon as leeds released him. i know a number of his close family well, but wouldn't hesitate in saying 'no thanks'. another half-fit, injury prone over 35 player is the last thing we need.

If we sign him on big moneys the clubs learnt nowt from the last 4 years of over the hill 'name' signings to get the fans in.

The fans will come if the footballs good, don't care whose playing it.

I wasnt comparing him to them as such. Point I was making was that we'd wasted budget on those two. And prior to coming to us solano didnt have a bad reputation.

I must admit I am biased about Michael after that free kick against darLOW, obviously he is past his best and won't be expecting 10k a week off his home town club. I would take a 37 year old Michael Brown to be better than any other player on our books. And some of the young players would learn a lot from him. Like how to get stuck in and stop being lily livered cowards. If the only way we can afford him is to make him player/assistant manager then let's do it.

When we fans and the hierarchy at Pools ever learn ................................... just how many times have we signed 30 somethings out field players and they have done well .................... three times in my 44 years at watching Pools ............

John Rowlands
John MacPhail
Paul Murray

The common link you could not 'pinch and inch' on their waistline ..............................

Spend the money elsewhere I say or if we really have to sign him then very low basic wage aka the kids we have recently signed with a pay as you play top up!

Brown looks like he's in good nick. Law of averages say he'll be a "good" over 35 signing!

I couldn't care less if he scored 10 against darlow then done a full fuckin mooney to the tin shed. Give me brad walker over brown any day.

He's an average clogger that we don't even need, football at this level is not like that anymore.

I asked a relative of Brown (also a pools fan) today as to whether he knew anything about this, and he said he highly doubts it as he is currently living in Manchester. However did say that he is not interested in coaching and wants to keep on playing for at least two more years!!

Brown is a top pro who has played at the top level of English football for a number of years. He looks as fit as a butcher's dog and would stroll through games at Pools level. Walker is a boy who one day might be even half as good as Michael Brown though he would undoubtedly learn from playing alongside him.

He's hardly an average clogger, and just maybe he could bring Walker on. I would say if we signed him then he would almost certainly be taking over Walton's holding midfield position. So Walker would still be playing.

The holding midfield role is why we're fucking shite how about we have two/three combative centre midfielders who can get about the park instead of one camped in their own half doing next to nothing all game

Eggsfuckinzactly!

Why do people think we need this mystery defensive midfielder sat infront of the back four doing fuck all for half the game n barely leaving our half.

I've never thought brown anything other than average, n I'd rather have 2/3 players way younger than brown on less money doing a better over all job.

It just smacks of Howard and solano all over again, as chip says his record is very howardesque, rarely starting, rarely finishing games due to fitness or discipline.

Waste of money.
