Not bad this year. Not quite the characters of a few years back but not as boring as some, either.

I'd like to see Selby win the title but, if not, hope at least that Robertson beats O'Sullivan.

Can't see anyone beating O'Sullivan as he always seems to just step up when his opponent starts to play.

It'll be good to see a final in which O'Sullivan is genuinely under threat. His record in major finals is incredibly good, and most of his World finals in particular have been a little easy. With all respect to Hawkins, Carter x 2 and Dott, they were a little out of their class. But both Robertson and Selby have the game to challenge and even beat him over a distance. It should be O'Sullivan's toughest world final since his first one against John Higgins.

I called Robertson v O'Sullivan at the start as the most likely and also the most preferable final, but Selby has been very impressive in this semi and I think he might outlast Robertson

I agree...whatever the outcome tonight it will be a good final.

I thought Alan McManus, who's always been a favourite of mine had really upped his game this year, but he turned out to be, as you put it, out-classed, when it came down to it.

He should have had the last frame dusted... he's choking.

I know nothing about snooker but isnt that a low price when there are so many possible scores that can happen when they are playing possibly 35 frames?

Looks as though you might be right :(

But it's not just that he's stepped up, Selby isn't playing anything like he was in his previous two matches.

You can't play the best player in the world when you are knackered. Even if he is officially ranked no. 33.

Considering the rest of his game, Ronnie is spectacularly bad at getting out of snookers isn't he? De-snookering must use a different part of the brain from potting :)

Incredible performance from Selby in that session. It's not often someone whitewashes Ronnie O'Sullivan.

Selby is extraordinarily accurate when he's on form.

By the way, since my post above, O'Sullivan has got out of two snookers first time....more than he's done in the entire rest of the match, I think.....

He certainly wouldn't take 6 attempts to hit a red like Selby did.

Yes, especially as one of the relatives looks like Camilla Parker-Bowles. Which is a bit confusing, to say the least.

Btw which football top is that goon, who seems to be in every camera shot, wearing ?, blue and white stripes, obviously worn for maximum exposure effect.

Also it helps the game. The rest of the field needed to get past O'Sullivan's intimidation factor. Yes he's the best, but he can be beaten. Contrast Selby's attitude with Murphy's in the QF. Murphy was talking up Ronnie as a genius and an overwhelming favourite before he'd even hit his first break-off, and when he lost he was "oh well he does that to people". Total defeatist attitude from a very good player.

Yes, it's the psychological aspect that makes snooker interesting, because it's not in itself a fascinating game. O'Sullivan definitely cultivates a swagger and the swagger (and his form) began to dwindle at more or less the same time it became plain Selby wasn't affected by it.

Well, you say that now that you've seen her close up. She looked very Camilla-ish from a distance. I thought Charlie must have given her a night off.

It was like watching Chelsea play Real Madrid, and Chelsea boring the Madrid players into submission.

Good for the true snooker fans, but it bored the arse off me, but there again, snooker does that to me generally.

Another sport I like playing but hate watching.

Its still better than tennis to watch though.

Mind you its no different to how it was years ago.

Steve Davis used to bore Jimmy White and Alex Higgins into submission as well.

Things are always boring if you don't understand the rules. For instance, there's an off-side rule in snooker but not many men get it......
