...if the likes of Sweeney get a new contract, the arguments over season tickets will be an irrelevance... I won,t be bothering.

I'm undecided anyway but Sweeny staying would make my mind up.

The thing is we need a squad so there will obviously some players kept on who are a bit controversial. At present though it is all hearsay. So we need to wait and see. As for not buying a season ticket due to 1 player being kept on is fucking pathetic. I will support the team for the rest of my days and that is regardless of who plays for us.

No-one said one player's being retained was the only consideration, but thank you for your input. Now try minding your own business.

Good job no one said that then.

Can you define "the likes of"?

I think this issue is fairly simple to understand. Lots of people have been so disenchanted over the last few seasons that they've decided they'd rather stay away than witness more of the same.

Certain signings would indicate that 'more of the same' is more likely than not. After all, we have a lot of previous history to draw on when making the inference.
I don't presume to answer for Snowy, but he doesn't sound to me to be enraged, just making a point. If he were enraged I think it would be far far more obvious!

Well if Sweeney being kept on is the only decision the majority find fault with, it must mean we're gradually getting there.
But I guess some aren't happy unless we have a total clear-out every time we don't make the play-offs.

It's highly unlikely, from past experience of the nature Club thinking, that the decision to keep on Mr Sweeney would be the only one of that ilk. Apart from that, yes!

(Apologies to Mr Sweeney for using his name in this context, it could equally be said of a dozen others in the squad who haven't had such an impressive career.)

To some I think it's what keeping on players like Sweeney represents rather than the man himself.

I have no gripe with him. I just don't believe he's good enough n deserves another year. I have no motivation at all to give to my Saturdays n watch him n the current lot

If we are cutting costs we don't need 30 year olds as squad players on canny money.

N he's just not good enough, simple as that.

No sentiment, no loyal servant bollox, time to move on.

From your statement, it would seem that you are probably a spent force as a diehard fan and could assume the position of casual fan, you know, the ones who go shopping with the wife when we are at home because you dont fancy it!

Don`t feel bad about it, it happened with me and Man Utd about 10 years ago when I found my current passion which is Pools, I wasn`t fortunate enough to be born a Poolie, but getting to be part of it every week is not bad, frustrating recently but signs of change, young players getting a chance and season tickets a decent shout again.

And you want to pack it in because 1 player may be kept on for a year :angry-screaming:

If it is on reduced terms and as a squad player, he could be the water boy!

But why would a pools fan buy a cheap season ticket at any other team?

It doesn't matter if afc Wimbledon charge £100 out fans aren't going to shop around n change clubs.

It's certainly not cheap if we keep shite players, £6 a game last season was way over priced

I'm not sure that six bar a pop wasn't cheap bearing in mind some of the cracking games we at least had this last season. There was more entertainment this season than recently, albeit there was also enough dross games thrown into the mix that could make people forget the good stuff.

Probably not. He just takes a pop at anything I post. That's OK if it floats his boat.

Doesn't matter how cheap a season ticket is, if the entertainment is zilch, we get beat every home game and you leave 15 minutes before the end, its a waste of time and money.

I am amazed that anyone doesnt think the st deal is a cracking deal.

Regardless of who stays.

That said, you cant compare this season with last as we were a division higher.

Ao the price must reflect the standard as well as the value.

And all people aee saying is the noises coming from the club suggest more of the same, and so its right to question the vfm.

And the match day fee is just too daft to disvuss.

To sort out any confusion on my original post, I used the term 'the likes of ' to illustrate the clubs past infuriating practice of hanging on to players now past their sell by date. Sweeney never really played, yet there are players who despite their talent never really played either.... despite some fleeting displays our league position tells the true story of our season.
Hope this helps.
