I worked at Pools during the Chris Turner era, coaching with the football in the community side of things, and odd times, with the then academy/centre of excellence.

A few things stand out to me, there wasn't the huge net that there is now in the pro game, that picks up kids who are half decent and spits them out for fear of missing anyone, right, or the wrong way of doing things?.

Training, diet, recovery, facilities etc. has improved massively, has this improved the standard of players at the club?.

I can remember being amazed at the graph/family tree of staff in the office of employees at the club, from top to bottom and Turner being about a third of the way down in order of importance at the club, and this was some years ago. will the manager have moved even further down that list these days?

I can remember seeing a scouting report on a young fellow who was playing non-league and that report saying, basically he wasn't good enough for Pools, that player now plays in the premier league and has represented his country, any ideas who it was?

Shocking that we missed out on Snodgrass too. Anyone reckon we were as close to signing him as they made out at the time?

He didn't play for Maidstone until 2008. He only played 12 games for them.

He actually signed a two year deal at the Boro in 2008 but had his contract terminated due to homesickness and then signed for Fulham. I didn't know that.

Turner left in 2002
You claim 2006
Smalling made his Maidstone debut in 2007/08 season

When turner left pools smalling was 13, so were looking at 11/12 when you claim we Didnt want him.

Right been doin a bit of research Smallin made his debut at Maidstone 2007 at 17 yr old, I believe Tommy Miller was chief scout at the time, Turner was a twat who everyone hated, except a balding lad in the academy he treat well coz Turner was bangin his sister, he had tomato and lettuce sarnies for his bait, every Tuesday and Thursday and pea and ham soup everyother day, I spent most of my time out of the royal back (tryin not to be charged) "and" the club still owe me money for wages...

Hope that settles ya mind officer... :)
