Quite strange that this was filmed at Pools, anyone know the back story?

He's from somewhere in the north east and loads of the location stuff for The Fast Show was filmed up here. Pools are very reasonable about requests to film at the Vic whereas the 'big three' are arsey about almost everything, Boro a bit less so.

Ron actually played for us according to his highly entertaining autobiography "Marvellous, Isn't It ?". Apparently he got shipped out of Fulham when Jimmy Hill took over and ended up at Pools, he speaks very warmly of his time here in the chapter called "It's grim oop north".
