...did fellow bunkerites hear parts of it pre-match on Tees, real warts-an-all listening, admitted he cried for 3 to 4 days after losing his status at the Vic, and says Pools are still the first result he and his kids look out for.

None. I believe he had so many offers, he still hasn't sifted through them all.

Good solid player for us, I imagine he would have been devastated after being with us for so long.

No I'm not thick. But I do have a problem with some of the shit posted about former players. Players who were good honest pro's. I just find it all a bit unnecessary.

Can't fault Barron when he was a player, as a coach he failed.. Also see Yubep's signature for further details

Nobodys suggesting he should still be here, his reign had taken it's course, we move on, but at least he was professional enough to not do as some former players have and slag off the fan's who'd turned against him, or belittle the club.

There's enough home grown kids in our team now to suggest Barron wasn't a total failure.

He's shown no bitterness or lack of dignity since leaving the club, a couple have on this thread. I'm pleased the club moved on in the summer but I don't think there's any need for continued mockery of the bloke. One thing I'll say about his non playing role at the club; he gave Luke James his debut. I won't say much else!

Chip do you mean Martin Scott? Also are pool players answer to the night owl jack Culleen? Think it's something like that.

I don't remember Martin Scott playing over 300 times for us and being the only bloke to captain us to promotion twice to be fair.

How many came through the Youth Team when he was running the Youth Team ? They were shit when he was in charge of them, and The Reserves were shit when he was in charge of them an all.

The dad of a young player currently playing First Team said to me " The way he talks to some of them kids is a disgrace "

Hewistson must have been in charge of the kids for a good few years now, Barron was working with the First Team.

I cant recall any player or ex player during his coaching regime I spoke to, having a good word to say for him. One sent me a message I've still got which said " The training and coaching generally leaves a lot to be desired. Its definitely the worst of any club I've been at, its left down to the individuals themselves to do enough to keep themselves fit. "

The place was riddled with cliques, players clearly didnt get on with other players and it was allowed to fester and then manifest itself in incidents on the training ground, there was no team spirit, the actual football itself was horrific, it was actually hard to watch.

I dont think just because someone was a good solid pro,it entitles them to lifetime respect, irrespective of what happens after they stop playing.I'm sure Martin Smith was a good solid pro,and look at the abuse he still gets.

1/3 of the starting eleven tonight are home developed players who have been at the club for a good number of years. Are you seriously suggesting our youth set up was that shit during this time?
I've seen a lads come to us from well respected premier league academies ie Nathan Luscombe, who have nowhere near the desire and attitude our youths have.

I'm not sure how you can successfully stick up for his time as a coach at the club, I don't think the club had any success at any level during his tenure and he did well to outlast a few managers.

Do people get over sensitive about twitter ? And I include myself in this, I mean Collins talked utter shite last year about the 'sacrifices' the team made and also slagged off Hope, but by all accounts he has been a model pro this year in training and encouraging the younger players which is what counts

Not saying other criticism of Barron isn't valid, but a stupid comment on twitter isn't the end if the world

I'm amazed at some of the posters on here trying to slip words into people's posts to make themselves look the better fan.

Nobody has said he was a bad player, he did well and was solid and dependable for us in that regard. But his coaching record speaks for itself and while losing your job is never nice he wasn't as good at the job he lost as he had been at the job he came to Pools to do.

As a player... No complaints, canny player.

As a coach, no good, is it any coincidence the old boys club feel the clubs had over the past few years has gone since he left?

My mate was a YTS at pools whilst he was coach, very very average coach he says and a man he has no respect for.

Some people forget we got relegated last year and where absolutely shite under him.

The club eventually parted company with him because he wasn't prodicing the goods. End of.
Workmanlike defender and coach are not necessarily compatible roles.
Some people have this slushy, sentimentality that makes them want to hang on to their talisman .....but unlike their old teddy bear, these talismans' are controlling your football club.

I have to say during barons time at the club richards holden baldwin, luke james, rowbottom, rutherford (scored at portmouth). Hawkins even brad walker was nailed on for contract and traveled regularly with first teamlast season. Although baron was sacked he spotted talant. Cooper has used this base and also has the contacts at higher clubs to bring in loans. So we did already have some very good youngster at the club pre cooper. Its strange how luke hasnt been invited for england trials he to me should of gone before walker.

Yeah it's a proper disgrace 19 year old Luke James has been overlooked by England Under 18's.

It's the snobbery that these set ups have, rarely taking notice of the lower leagues, I bet they don't even know how well Sam Collins is playing.

I don't think James was anywhere near where Walker is in terms of technical ability at the age of 17, in fact I've never seen such an accomplished player as Walker at the club at the age of 17. His other goal against Burton was also technically superb with the outside of his foot.

Well thats your opion, and yes walker is a good player but must admit james was a great player at 17. Think its very early to say a kid is a super star and its alot to live upto too much too soon. .

I don't think Walker was anywhere near the first team squad last season, I think he is clearly making this up as he goes along

Brad's Grandad was 'over the moon' that he was getting regular time in the ressies last season, he definitely was not expecting to see him pull on a first team shirt any time soon!

Spoke to a few people and even this time last year nobody saw him progressing like he has. Colin Cooper credits Hignett for spotting his obvious first team potential during the first couple of training sessions during pre season.

'Poisonous fans'.........? ..... no doubt defined as such by those a bit touchy at being criticised and those deferential 'supporters' who live in a world were the pros are always right and the stupid fans should know their place.
A mindless fan is a happy fan. .... Oh dear.

Or last month said Luke James and Brad Walker are 'over hyped' players who won't get higher than League Two or One.
