....why when toasting thin slices of bread does the top bit of the slice (rounded crust) toast faster than the rest, even though it's the same thickness?

Have you tried putting it in round end down?

With mine I toast one side then turn it over and yhen that side burns round the edges!!!!

My toaster is the opposite. It colours the bottom of the bread and leaves it whit near the top.

...if we could get our toasters to breed, the offspring should be acceptable.

Try doing it under the grill for all-over regulation brown. Remember to turn it over though.

That's what I use....the 2nd side still burns in places!!!!

technical answer, cut the rounded bit off

Do some yoga, smoke cannabis or get some therapy. Slight over browning of the curved edges isn't too hard to deal with.




PS Just squish a bit of extra jam up there to compensate for any slight burned flavour. (Raspberry with seeds)
