His attitude seems to have been impressive for a member of the once notorious Yorkshire mafia. Monkhouse as well. Have things changed because Don Ritchie got the text in the night or was the whole thing bollocks?

The latter. A definite smokescreen dating back to the dark days under Hughes.

The dark days were on Cooper's watch.

I know you had a massive down on him for reasons that seem to predate his involvement at Pools but John Hughes stewardship was a great improvement.

Poor hughes, comes in when we're shite, gets no money to sign anyone, gets saddled with a relegation on his cv then gets accused of the days being dark under him, strange comment alletz.

Hughes' problem was he talked such utter nonsense.

And I DO believe it was the same in the changing room as well.

what this proves once and for all.. is how well Colin Cooper has done to get the unity at the club, and get them playing good football again, and working hard for each other

I don't care about the past now, we can't do fuck all about it (as irksome as it was for all of us) - what is important is that we have a manager here who has picked everything up and got our squad to be a decent football team on a Saturday once again

As sad is it is to say the dark days that ultimately led to relegation were under Neale Cooper. From spunking much of his summer transfer budget on Stevie Statue to completely losing the dressing room. We were as shambolic rabble and a complete embarrassment at the start of last season. I don't think Collins has been a problem since Cooper resigned and his form and attitude in the back half of last season were both good.

N Cooper was a disaster and should never have been allowed to return.

thought Hughes got a rough deal no money for loans or permanent signings, would be interesting to see his stats against Colin Coopers who has had funds made available,as for Hughes talking shite, must be the same book of shite football quotes used by present management team, they all pretty much the same?

Hughes's record stands up very well against Colin Cooper's. Very similar.

JH: 29 league games. W8 D9 L12
CC: 30 league games. W10 D8 L12

They even followed similar patterns. Bad first six games followed by a great run of form for 10-12 with monthly awards for player and manager, then around 8-10 games of disappointing results. Both won two of their last four games.

Of course Hughes was in League One as well. I think he did a good job in awful circumstances

That's quite surprising. Hughes did remarkably well considering the lack of any investment. Had he been given the backing cc had then who knows, we may still have been in league 1 right now. Admittedly the football may not have been so good like.

I don't think the bloke was Jose Mourinho or anything he had some coaching ability, got the squad a bit more together and a bit more organised.

He was hung out to dry and not given any backing whatsoever it was clear from about the middle of March that he was getting sacked whatever happened. Dibble said he talked rubbish, I got the impression he was making things up as he went along as he no relationship with Green or Hodcroft. He couldn't even arrange a meeting with them.... I'm glad he's back in work but I'm happier where we are now and much happier with Colin Cooper in charge.

the results don't tell the whole picture though, because we will get better results in future under CC. He is easily a better football manager, and for me a better man manager - he has got the team playing the game, and worth going to watch at long last

Cc doing well so far. Must say thought Hughes did a great job with what he had. But seasons not over so we will see. It all comes down to money and will cooper be allowed to spend.

Anyone got stats for J Hughes time in charge when Howard didn't feature ? I bet his win to loss ratio sky rockets ! E.g great run in Feb 2013 when SH(ite) was injured/suspended. You have to remember he inheirited the big useless cart horse.

Speaking of Stevie Statue I see he still hasn't decided which of the many many offers he had on the table to take up.
