Well I received one reply from three from the email to my local councilors with regards to Pools buying Victoria Park and that was at ten to eight last night.....

"I am only to pleased to tell you my opinion of the selling of the ground to the club. I am on record as stating that I don't agree that they should be allowed to buy the ground for what they paid for it. Which was £300,000. If they want to pay what is termed as the going rate of land at that particular location then I as a Councillor would consider it.
Other clubs I am lead to believe, Newcastle United being one do not own their ground yet have spent considerably more to improve their facilities without feeling the need to purchase the ground.
I hope that you accept my reason for this decision wether you agree or not.

Kind Regards

Coucillor Rob Cook"

I've always been told it was £60k and that Vince Barker offered the same to buy it back a little while later.

it was £10,000. So whatever that is inflation and index linked in today's money. Anyone?

Using property values as a guide, it would have bought four decent two bedroomed terrace houses, so the value today would be just over £200,000 .

I've always had the figure of 60K in my head. I'm sure that was the figure quoted in the ever reliable Mail at the time.

I'd love to go through that statement and check for spelling, punctuation and grammar! I'd have a field day!

Well at least it's refreshingly honest (whatever it means) confised .
So this guy clearly isn't in for a glorious career as a politician!
