that is all

Must have just been completely pumped up by the looks of it. No build up to it, no danger at all, in their half and on the video it looks like the ref had no real choice- he just jumped in. Can only think that it was lack of experience combined with lots of adrenalin.

granted it was a bit OTT, but will prove a turning point now, on how he is coached, how much he has learnt from the mistake and thirdly how he reacts and moves on!!

Wow, at what age do you think kids these days are taught to stay on your feet?

I would say about 6.

Maybe you know better.

And this isnt just about Richards, as it happens every week all over the country. Some players, and fans it seems, never learn.

D team eh?

I didnt actually know you could play at such a low level.

I would just like to know what he thought he was gaining by going to ground like that? Even if he got the ball and missed the man, he would have been on his arse, and without the ball.

Some people just never learn. :naughty:

Oh, and whilst we are on, why did Cooper refuse to speak to the press?

Dont tell me he was angry about the decision.

The thing that struck me is the total lack of reaction by the Fleetwood fans who were only a few feet away, if that had happened to one of our players in front of the Mill House I can't imagine the offender would have got off so lightly.

probably excited at the opportunity of maybe gaining first team place and trying to cement it and make it his. His hard tackle had he made it would have made the winger think twice about going past him and trying to make him look shi7e.

He played with his heart on his sleeve and as stated, is not a dirty player. Probably just high on adrenaline.

I noticed that on the telly too, and having watched it over a few times (albeit not from the best camera angle) the obvious conclusion is that they didn't go nuts when he did it because they thought the same as I think in that it should never have been a red card.

I see that Dibble has already secured a few bites on his bait though.

Cooper's comments-

“But having seen the incident closer, which by the way the referee doesn’t get that close, I have to say that it was a reckless challenge and not only does Jordan arrive after Jeff Hughes has played the ball, he also sends Jeff up into a cartwheel. So I felt like I had to go back into the referee’s room and tell him that I had seen it again a lot closer and in a lot more detail and he had probably got it right."

He does say he thinks it was harsh because it was only the third minute so maybe allowances should be made but he clearly agrees it was reckless. Doesn't call anybody names though so Cooper and Dibble probably aren't the same person.

Considering managers lose their jobs for a string of bad results I think it's nailed on that Colin Cooper let Richards know exactly what he thought of his rash act and it's also safe to assume he won't get another chance in the first team till he gives the impression that he's learned a lesson.

Most players do learn the lesson - though it's arguable that Lee Cattermole (7 red cards and counting) is indeed mentally deficient in some way.

It was a 100% red card, the only way he possibly could have got away with it was if the ref bottled it because it was so early in the game.

Correct, it was.

I was debating and offering an opinion on whether or not it should've been.

Hughes was lucky he was in the motion of striking the ball and his studs weren't planted because Richards challenge was over the top of the ball with plenty of momentum behind it and it would have broken his leg.

Over enthusiasm to do well and make a mark early in the game and certainly not malicious, but at the same time dangerous. I don't know what difference people's reactions right on top of the incident make but it was a clear red card. Sometimes you can be too close to an incident to see it properly though.

Fair enough.

I wasn't there and (as I said above) the pictures on the Football League Show didn't give anywhere near enough detail to know that. If it was relatively close to the away end then you'll have seen a lot more of it than I have.

Should be fined tbh.

The fact its in their half and no danger whatsoever makes it all the more stupid.

I was there, and it was a clear red. Dibble, I hope I'm getting this wrong but you seem to have set yourself up as less of a Pools fan, and more of a Pools critic? Jordan Richards certainly isn't "retarded" (dreadful expression), hes a bright, intelligent young footballer who lost his head for a spilt second chellenging for a 40-60 ball. It happens, he will learn.

I must speak a foreign language, or you dont read.

I dont run a kids team now.

But I would never call kids that make mistakes..........its how they learn.

But Richards is an adult, not a kid.

When have I critisised pools lately?

I am critisising the tackle, and the mentality in this country that accepts that sort of tackle.

It could have broken someones leg, and it certainly cost pools the games.

And I didnt post this straight after the game either. I have waited till Monday and I watched it about 50 times to make sure I thought it was as bad as it is.

He may well be a nice lad, he may well be bright and intelligent, and hopefully he will learn.

I would like to know from him what he thought he was gaining from the tackle in the first place.

And the comment from someone else that he was trying to intimidate the winger and let him know he was there is just comical.

This isnt 1975.

Age is irrelevant on this matter, I don't see what experience has to do with it. How many times did keane or viera or Gerrard at the top level receive reds for the exact same challenge. It happens week in week it. I don't think he is retarded but he made a mistake and has to take that on the chin. He let everyone down but as it stands its a 1 off so retarded seems extremely harsh.

No fishing trip today my good man.

This is one of my pet hate subjects.

Like it or not Football has changed to allow the good players to play, and make it harder for the cranks and thugs to prosper any more.

Hence was Cattermole gets sent off every bloody week.

I didnt change the rules, so dont blame me. But the rules have been changed, and if anyone doesnt like it they should take up watching Rugby league.

And they have been changed for a long time now, so there is no excuse any more. Stay on your fucking feet.

Anyone remember a certain Andy Monkhouse at Rochdale, in a game we had to win, second last game of the season to stay in contention of winning the league?

I'd say he learnt a massive lesson from that game as will Richards from saturday

So it was a stupid tackle that hopefully he will learn from, if he does it consistently then you can call him retarded or whatever, but no sense being over critical now.

People make mistakes, the test is how they learn from them

I am struggling to find the last post I made critisising Pools. sctatchinghead

Come off it....you use to be one of Pools most voiciferous supporters but now all what you do is have little digs and find faults....sad but true....FACT!!!! :-D

Infact you have got me wrong 100%.

During the Rivals days I was one of the biggest whingers. FACT.

So the truth is I have calmed down to near relaxed levels these days.

I just comment on what I see. :naughty:

I rant at the important issues.

Because I care.

but thats not true.

You keep saying it but its wrong.

I have not critisised the team in ages.

I havent cos I think Cooper has done remarkably well.

So please lead me to this constant negativity.

I have also been pretty consistant with my critisisms of players going to ground.

I was roundly critisised for slaughtering howard when he did it.
