Applause for me.

He has strong links to the club due to Darrell Clarke's nickname and I heard someone shout when Nialle Rodney came on against Rochdale 'Howay Dave"

Wasn't it that one when Hodgson got hit with a stray 50p?

Maybe Sussex could parade round the Vic with a begging blanket for the Loids? I'm sure people would donate good and hard.

Probably when I was a ball boy back in the late seventies. I made a fortune over on the Mill House side when we went out for the second half of games with all the coins we'd missed during the collection. Was well worth getting twatted on the head a few times just to get me pockets filled.

'Raquel's had the baby.'

'Oh yeah, boy or girl?

'Boy.'

'What are they calling it??'

'Rodney apparently, after Dave.'

Neither Dawn French or Jennifer Saunders are funny 'ab fab' was shite as well, just political correctness that they had to put a couple of split arse comediennes on the telly

How many 'comedians' of either sex are funny? Wit and humour have gone steadily down hill since the days of Peter Cook, not the Nine O'clock News and Barry Cryer.

Anyway, was reading an article the other day about the things people laugh at irl, most of which aren't funny at all in the cold light of day. A typical for-instance scenario of this: a group of people spending an evening together in the pub. One gets up to go and someone says, "Oh, you're not leaving already are you?" .....to raucous laughter from the rest of the group. sctatchinghead

Half Man Half Biscuit songs usually make me laugh.... observational lyrics designed to induce mocking, and rightly so given the target subjects/ subject matter

HMHB are indeed very funny. Even more so when some of their more obscure lyrics are revealed. There's a website that explains what/what a lot of them mean.

I was exploring the Tivo box the other day and looking through the 'suggested programmes' menu. Most of them were sensible and related to what I've been recording/watching. However, you can imagine my shock to discover that 'Miranda' was one of them. I put my foot through the telly, hoyed the Tivo box out into the street and sent the bill straight to Richard Branson.

Problem is, TV comedy had to be pitched to the masses and what your Nana thinks is hysterical isn't what your bairns find funny.

Everything is either hysterical or tragic depending what mood you're in and the company you're keeping. Surely there's no line you can draw? I've laughed meself sick when most people would think I needed sectioning for what I was laughing at.

The darker the better for me. I also prefer comedy without studio laughter as well.
