My company and Scarborough Athletic have worked together for a few years now and they are definitely going to reappear in the Conference in the near future. As Parmo says, plans are well advanced for their return to the town and they have excellent facilities at Pinder College which to be honest are way, way better than the proposed Darlo ground at Blackwell Meadows. The other thing they have going for them is even when they were going bust, they paid us......when that goon Reynolds had DFC, I don't think we got paid within three months of Invoice date EVER, and thank fuck we got our buildings off there before the real money trouble started.....

Thieves basically !

FYI half any money received from sell on clauses will go back to the creditors, so we are not "trousering" all the sell on money.

The only issues Scarborough may have is the fact that their new ground will have no room for expansion so it could be that the conference may be as good as they can hope to get to, hopefully they will get there though. The other issue is that the EU are investigating clubs who play at council owned facilities and these clubs must pay the going rate to use these facilities otherwise they will fall foul of fair play legislation. This has already had an impact at the highest level of football due to complaints from English and German authorities as this gives some clubs an unfair advantage, Spanish and Italian clubs quite often pay peppercorn rent for their council owned grounds. As I understand it, Swansea are also under investigation.
You are right about Blackwell Meadows, theres nothing much to it and it will cost a fair bit to make good. Thats the situation we are in though so we have to do what we can with it when we can afford it. At least there is a fair amount of room for expansion should it ever be financially possible.

The plan is unworkable and will only show a diminishing return without an angel investor. I am not allowed to say anything more as I get called a clever 'lovely lovely person', and certainly cannot use a smiley.

But basically it's fucked.

Spyman? Is reading a problem for you? Theres only one 'lovely lovely person' and that is Singh and as he is a "creditor" then unfortunately he may see some of the money. If it was up to me I would prioritise those small businesses that lost out due to his mismanagement and lies.

The debt to small businesses was not that high actually, the vast majority was what Singh claimed was owed to him. A lot of those small businesses still trade with the club and are getting money back that way. Not perfect I know but the club hasn't turned its back on them at all. If Singh had waived his supposed debt then chances are these businesses would have got all their money back. If you want to blame anyone then blame the man who blocked the CVA.

You would have thought Hartlepool fans would know better than to make accusations like this on a message board or have you forgotten what happened with allegations about Newell?

Still can't see any reason why they just didn't fall behind RA .. At least they have some connection with the town and are an established side .. Starting their "new" club is totally pointless

football would cease to exist for me if that ever happened to Pools

Football would be eradicated from my vocabulary and I would encourage my lad to be a fan of rugby or cricket, cos that's what I would want him to do instead.

No Pools = no football.

To be fair to the Darlo fans it wasnt them that fucked over anyone was it ? It was the owners of the football club at the time, and unfortunately us fans dont have a whole lot of say in who gets to run the football club.

Gary Gibson did some pretty shitty things in his time running Pools, including sending a rubber cheque to Cyril Knowles family. I boycotted all home games at the end of his reign but plenty others kept going when it was obvious he was simply trousering the gate money.

I think its fair enough accusing people repeatedly dipping into their pockets of blind loyalty and misplaced optimism, but calling the fans involved in running the club now thieves or snivelling weasels is just dumb.

Mind you the bloke doing it hates Pools as well, so at least he's consistent.

Glad its not just me who thought the attack on loan star was a bit daft, unless he is the one who ran the club.

Its fairly easy to make a hash of running something if you deliberately live beyond your means hoping shit will turn out better, if you go from very small to very big quickly or if you are clueless.

Darlo have suffered from aspects of all three in the last few years and are still suffering from the ambitions of those running the thing being those of committed well meaning fans without the benefit of realism. If a local business man walked in with £10,000,000 it would be a different story, but it would also probably take longer than the current board expects to get to L2.

If Pools folded I'd give up, I wouldn't throw much money in the bucket or follow another club. I might go to odd matches here & there but football would lose its relevance and I'd not struggle to fill the void left on a Saturday or spend the extra money in my pocket.

I can confirm that I would not put any money in if similar circumstances happened at pools.

I watch plenty of football without pools anyway.

As well as more normal rsasons like

1. Not having that much disposable income.

2. Being thrown out of the house for even suggesting it.

I can assure you I wouldn't be giving any money in the same circumstances.

A supporter supports the club by paying for a season ticket or in through the gate using matchday facilities and buying merchandise. If the club can't sustain itself on that then they can't come begging to people who are already doing what has been asked of them.

With a young family I couldn't justify giving money away to something as trivial as a football team. Especially one being run by people who have absolutely no idea what they are doing.

My take on it is this.

When Darlo were on the up, (bear with me you need to be a certain age to remember) we got loads of pee taking and lording it over us, however for the last 7 years its been a pleasure to wallow in just how low Darlo have gone, never in my wildest dreams did I think it would be this delicious.

Just when Darlo seem to be getting back on an even keel they manage to screw up again, my sides ache laughing at just how bad they are, Pools fans need to think about Darlo when we have a blip.

Mind the Gap indeed.

I never suggested anything of the sort. We are operating within the FL rules about spending 55% of our turnover on players wages though.

But club aren't begging or never have been for charitable donations from people that already support the club financially. We live withins our means and have never left anyone out of pocket.

1883 is not a business model it is desperation by the deluded and clueless.

I am well aware of that and have heard tales of a blanket being walked around the ground to collect loose change.

The thing is though we survived donating a bit of loose change or going a supporters club do was what people did to help. It helped the club survive and get through some tough times this Darlo thing is different..

Darlington didn't survive and this new club seemingly won't unless people don't continue to donate decent amounts of cash. They already have handed over a fair whack just to set the club, people donated £50,000 to set up a trust if that money wasn't there they possibly wouldn't have made it through last season. Now again they need £50,000 as well as £75,000 to get back to Darlo. What about when they get back, £75,000 seems a very, very conservative estimate to turn a rugby ground into a fit for purpose football ground. At the c ricket we did a lot of work on the pavilion with the help of a lottery grant of £50,000 and despite trying to do everything as cost effectively as possible still went over budget. That sort of money goes nowhere. Then you get to the debt they are saddled with. It's a never ending cycle throwing good money at bad.

Just glanced at their board, they are discussing how much of the Burn money they should use to pay off their debt, ie the people they have received goods and service from for which they owe money and how much they should put in their account to fund promotion for the rest of the season.
How is that right ? Surely you should pay people you owe money to ??
One suggestion was use 5 of the 75k for debt and the rest on keeping good players in the team

Oh and they won 6-0 today with a hat trick from some bloke called Fisher they are paying good money to

Darlo are still in the grip of us bloodsucking accountants.

Until they get out of that loop they're fucked.

They need to find someone (which would be difficult) who would do the job pro bono, i.e.for no money.

However their reputation stinks, so nobody will.

Stockdale has played loads of games for Fulham hasn't he? A pretty low quality Premier League keeper from I've seen.

I'm pretty sure the score was 1-1.

So 1883 get money for Burn playing in the FA Cup for Fulham? Does that mean you can go back Darlington now? Put those buckets away for a month before it all starts again.

Apparently it was negotiated to be £75k for getting in the first team squad and another £75k on his first appearance. Half of both amounts goes to creditors of the old company.

There are more add ons from both Burn and Stockdale to come hopefully. Not a bad deal if you ask me!

I'm awaiting the news that I will react to with some shock, after they've signed a player from Spennymoor for £30,000 and fitted new £45,000 hesculators to the stand at Bishop Auckland that they aren't actually getting anything as the stipulation was a Premier League appearance or it was the first Fulham have heard of it.

By the way I'm off to do an accountancy course, that guy who is a partner in a small accountancy firm based in Yarm is about to trouser £75,000 for a footballer making ONE appearance...... fucking hell  All wrong.

Darlington Football Club? Is this another new club then?

There is a Darlington 1883 that plays in the Evo Stik First Division.

The reasons for them being a new club and not the old one are fairly clear to everyone and are backed up by the FA's insistence they reapplied to start in the Northern League.

There just seems to be a dogged resistance to admit this by a large section of their fans and I wonder if this blinkered attitude and reluctance to accept they're a brand new non league club that has led to their utter clusterfuck of a financial situation.

failure to recognise something is the very first hurdle. If they don't appear to be able to do that, then I think they are doomed

If they think they are a football league club playing in the evo stik league then this is blinding them to where they truly are

The light is very bright what they are looking into, but unfortunately for them it seems to be an oncoming train

Just seen this on Twitter... Not really news

"Darlington currently holding a fans' forum - where it has been announced the club are £150,000 in debt."
