Playing in goal for the borer tomorrow against Hull.

Quality keeper for Pools - good luck to him.

Question, would you prefer Dimi in goal for pools or Flinders?

Dimi, he's the best we've ever had.

It depends what Dimi's current form is like, but I think Dimi is the best Pools keeper ever of all the ones I've seen over a sustained period.

It's like asking who would prefer between Luke James and Joel Porter.. A bit silly really but Flinders is nowhere near Dimi..although Luke can get better...

On a good day, I'm not sure there's anything between them.

My impression is that Flinders has pulled off a greater number of 'brilliant' saves, but he might also have made more mistakes. Difficult to compare the two, simply from memory.

Dimi made a shit load of mistakes.

Some people may choose to gloss over that fact.

Both are excellent keepers at this level.

Agreed.

Dimi also had a fantastic defence in front of him, the same can't always be said for Flinders

Dimi's save from the deflected free kick at Darlo still makes me excited in my special area.

I suppose you need to consider the back line, as well. Scott Flinders did excellently last season, when the defence was often quite a bit dodgy. Easy to be a good keeper if your defenders are stopping balls getting through.

Too many variables, I think, to make a proper comparison.

(Sorry, now see mister b has made a similar point.)

That triple-save against Rochdale at home in the FA Cup replay made me come. Whilst watching it in the pub.

And the striker was offside anyway.

Keepers always stand out more in a poorer defence. You simply
Have so much to do that you will almost always come out if it smelling like roses. See Richard Wright being called up for England on the back of Ipswich being tonked in the Premier League every week.

Hmmm...

What about Peter Schmeichel, Oliver Kahn, to name a couple? Far from poor defences in front of them most of the time.

Obvious exceptions, see Dimi too. If I was a keeper and I wanted to get noticed if rather play for a team with a shit defence.

Last years player of the season and Andy Rafferty against Dimi?? No brainer. Dimi had his day, and a good day it was, but never go back.

Hartlepool 4-Wrexham 6. bbolt
