His name has now been officially released.

This is why I hate NYE. Too much aggro and sadly, in this case, with fatal consequences.

All over Sky News and the BBC News website (thankfully not front page)

Probably will be national news tonight.

Sky reporter in Hartlepool.

It's a disgrace - sad day to be a 'Poolie.

My condolences go to the victim's family.

Hope whoever did it gets what he deserves.

Unfortunately this will become a common occurrence in Hartlepool over the next few years. A town becoming over run by Rarfs sadly.

There should be a minute's silence before the next home match against Rochdale in 10 days time.

It's such a shame the town is getting a lot of negative publicity in the national media because of this.

Just realised who it was and I believe his mam used to teach me art at Jesmond Road.

Lovely woman

Well, I can remember someone being murdered in Cheltenham a few years ago and they had a minute's silence then.

That doesnt mean it has to happen here.

It's tragic, n its a terrible start to the year.

But for me minutes silence at pools are for football related matters only.

There has been a number of deaths in Hartlepool in recent years, some big Pools fans but no minutes silence was held then. Why would this be any different?

I've missed POK.

I reckon he has a future in writing over the top reactionary hyperbole for the Daily Compo.

I have a feeling there will be because now we know there was a sporting connection - one of England's best middleweights, teammate of Olympian Savannah Marshall.

Your a bit of a nutter arnt you? A lad lost his life in horrible circumstances but this has nothing to do with Pools what so ever.

I have an image of POK sat with 3 PCs running, one for world of Warcraft, one with BBC news on auto refresh and the other with the bunker and Hartlepool mail sites running simultaneously.

His walls are a mish mash of Hufc memorabilia and new paper cuttings from all over the world with every tenuously Hartlepool related story from the last 17 years pinned around him with bits of string and post it notes marking links between real events and Hartlepool.

Just in front of the radiator is a makeshift altar dedicated to Jeff Stelling.
