Turning an average wicket keeper batsman into some sort of batting god.

Whereas the aussies just run in and hit the deck hard and fast.

Another embarrassing day.

Johnson is a Fast bowler, Jimmy Anderson is a swing bowler. If Anderson ran in and tried to bowl at 90mph he'd get twatted all over.

If we don't save this Test I'm starting to think 5-0. We've lost experience from the batting, the experienced players are out of form, have picked three bowlers on zero merit who shouldn't be their and are up against side full of beans. Disaster.

Whereas it appears Anderson just runs in at the moment and tries to keep the score down.

Isnt Broad quick?

So we knew the wickets would favour Johnson but we so arrogantly ignored that and just picked our normal bowlers?

I am bored with the excuses now. We have no bottle, we over-analysed the pitch and are franky shit scared of the mentally frail Johnson.

Its pathetic.

He's not as quick as Johnson and never will be . About 5mph slower which is a huge difference. He was still bending his back.

Anderson must be a bad Bowler now then as well as Cook a bad batsman.

I don't see any excuses they are playing better than us, Carberry and Root have just shown some fight and skill to through to the close. Plenty more required.

Bad bowler? Bad batsman?

Yes they are playing better than us, obviously, but as our best was meant to be so much better than theirs, surely them playing better than us should have evened things out?

Its much worse than that though. They are embarrassingly outplaying us so far.

Anderson has been the best bowler in the world, yet the aussies are making him look pedestrian at the moment.

Swann the best spinner, now looks the target for easy runs.

And as for Cook, if players are picked on form, not merit and history, he would surely struggle to get a game?

And remember he was bowled. He didnt see the bloody ball. Is Johnson really THAT much better than our bowlers?

In no sport do you just accept, "They are just playing better than us". You find out why and sort it.

Hopefully Root will show the same steel and fight he has shown so far, and pull us out of the shit. And maybe the others will learn something from it.

But there again, its Perth next, so Johnson will be terrifying.

We've been well and truly pasted so far this series.

We Havnt been pasted in this match at all. We lost the toss and the inevitable happened. Check the averages for this ground. Its hardly the riverside.

The draw is still a very likely result.

We were pasted in the 1st test though and certainly need to improve but its hardly 5-0 yet. Only 5 months ago we battered these 3-0 and only rain and light prevented a 4th win.

We ain't shit but we have players out of form playing away from home in the biggest series possible were every mistake is judged. For me this series is nowhere near over and there's still an awful lot of c ricket to be played. We still have 9 wickets and they include pieterson who like Clarke adores this ground. Also bell and with that talent still to bat we are far from beat.

I'm going to stick my neck on the line and say we won't lose this match and kp will score a ton.

Cook needs to remember how good he actually is and stop paying Johnson too much respect and prove himself again. He won't like watching today's innings back, he looked very poor and I hope this kick starts his series.

Draw here after losing the toss would be a good result

We need to bat for two days to save the match.

It won't happen.

I agree to say we've been pasted before we've batted is daft. It could be that we get 500+ as well.

Tomorrow though is the series. If we don't bat well and finish the day out of the match I seriously can't see us coming back. The Aussie attack on current form will be a handful at Perth, we got thumped there 3 years ago when we were on top. Johnson went through us when he wasn't bowling well. So we have to come out of this game without losing or I see no way back.

Like has been said above, our batters need to perform...........no excuses................its a piss easy batting track.

It must be.

We have the best bowlers in the world and the aussie batting is suspect.

No excuses

No one expected this series to be easy for England. 3-0 flattered us last summer and our batsmen have not performed consistently well as a collective for some time. It's right to say there's a long way to go but frankly would anyone risk their mortgage on our batsmen knuckling down and putting a good score on the board now? I have a horrible feeling we'll be lucky to pass 200.

I hope I'm wrong.

Aye, Mr John. If we don't bat all day tomorrow, we're 2-0 down. I reckon we can though, but we won't get near 600. I hope I'm wrong.

What do you propose.... the birch ?

Let's see how we bat, I fancy KP to get plenty on this surface.

If we're bundled out for sub 200 again fire away!

All over us like a cheap suit.

Two short mid wickets to Pietersen and he still plays the same shot. A well set field and proper bowling plans, like England three years ago.

Since Bell has walked to the crease the wicket has looked flat again.

Carberry is a good player.

Panesar faces more balls than cook prior pieterson broad stokes which says it fucking all.

Prior has to be replaced by bairstow, he's playing because he used to be good. Bell has to go to 3. Root was unlucky with his shot but needs to start playing more aggressively, 15 off 80 balls is just not good enough. As a whole team we are just too defensive, stokes never plays like that. Its as if we're told not to play shots. Only bell went after them. He showed Johnson isn't to be feared. Its all in the mind and we are scared shitless.

Ffs shape up, I feel so sorry for the fans that have travelled and spent thousands of pounds. You don't deserve to watch this

You've got to question selection again for this match. We got blown away twice at Brisbane yet we've gone in with a weaker batting line up here. The full tour is a disaster I wish they could just come home now, I can seriously see 5-0.

I don't see any changes now that will make a genuine difference again though over to the selectors who brought Rankin, Finn and Tremlett..... Three wasted spots in the squad for a start.

Bairstow has to replace prior.

Losing trott was always going to affect the line up. Bresnan will come in for monty in Perth but I agree it dosnt look good as a whole.

Cook kp and bell are the veterans of the side and need to lead the way, yet only bell is doing that. He has to bat at 3

Roots shot was terrible by the way. First ball he'd faced from Lyon.I watched the the first session and all three wickets were soft with only Carberry being able to point a luck. Clarke got away with one first ball yesterday we're getting away with nothing! Nothing to do with luck though we are getting slaughtered.

Like I said yesterday. We're being pasted.

The pitch is flat but scoreboard pressure and the fact that towards the end of day 2 Carberry & Root looked like rabbits caught in the headlights, it had all the makings of carnage on day 3.

Johnson was on fire with his bowling. Just blew everyone away.

I don't know what he bowled like after lunch but his spell before was nothing special. I thought we left quite a few four balls from him, our mindset is negative and we're not showing any balls or fight.

The mindset is a massive problen, the few runs that are coming are being scored so slowly that we are always under the cosh. A couple of games ago it was the Aussie batting line up that was all over the place.

As feared another feeble performance, carberry and bell aside, with the bat. They look completely unable to deal with genuine fast bowling.

I agree with PJ too. It really does look like a 5-0 in the making. The players just don't look up for it either with the bat or in the field. Very disappointing.

It was straight after lunch were he got the wickets, he was on for 2 separate ha ricks which sounds like he was sensational but when you watch the wickets back then I'm questioning the batsmen. We really scared of him and it must stop

Slightly better fight by England after losing the two early wickets but this will probably be over by lunch tomorrow.

I don't mind sledging but Johnson just goes too far, although it's probably not wise to wind Stokes up.

complete and utter farce.

two days to grind out, and most players just play a game of hit or/and get out.

Amateurs.

"All 10 of their second innings wickets here in Adelaide went to deliveries that would not have hit the stumps, just one of many chastening statistics in a contest that has thus far been entirely one-sided."

From the BBC report.

I would be tempted to investigate them for match fixing.

Ah, all is not lsot though as Alastair Cook has just said the players need to look deep in their souls.
