I think the substitutions highlight today that when again possible Cooper needs to add to this squad certainly in attacking positions. I was disappointed to see Compton go off and even though he was maybe trying a little too hard I think he never stops wanting the ball and trying to make things happen. His runs inside open up space for duckworth to overlap and the change just stopped us from any real positive play on that wing

The Tony Sweeney change said it all and I hope the club take note in the summer because that could be further funds for Cooper. Let's hope the old loyalty theme does not return.

I also think Rodney is just a waste of time on the bench he only every comes on in home games when they are won. It shows he can't rate him too highly. I'd rather see one of the young lads on the bench

I thought Sweeney did well when he came on, Poole looked knackered. I also thought Compton was bobbins, he only attacked their full back once he saw Franks warming up.

I disagree about Rodney, he's only young himself and looks like he can do well in an open game when strikers will get space. Today Portsmouth's centre halves read everything we did and didn't give our forward players a second on the ball. The blonde lad had Luke in his back pocket for the full game, they'd obviously watched how we play and stopped us effectively.

On to the next one, another unbeaten game and a clean sheet.

What did Sweeney do well?

Kept the ball, passed to to one of our players. On more than one occasion.

Obviously he didn't score or set up a goal, he also didn't do anything wrong. Not sure what you're getting at?

Sweeney didn't do anything. Compton wasn't bad at all. At least he doesn't hide and tries to make things happen. I agree with the OP that it shows we still need more strength in depth. We still need another option up front too. James can't do it all himself.

First post on here so hello everyone.

Just picking up on the comments about their blond centre-half - I thought he was their best player too and turns out the lad is just 17, so got to give him some credit.

Overall, I think we were largely decent, had most of the play and just struggled to break down a team determined to park the bus. Compton was a bit below the standard he has been, but Dolan (especially first half) and Duckworth stood out. I'd agree lack of options from the bench is a worry at present and hopefully that will be sorted in January.

He kept the ball? I must have missed that gem.

Compton wasn't bad? It's the worst game I've seen him have he was well below standard and only picked up when he knew he was coming off. What game do people watch? I 've seen others describing Walton as 'great' what the fuck!? He did some good things like his bit of skill to get out of trouble in the second half but he also did plenty of absolutely dreadful things as well. He also sat far too deep against a team playing for 0-0.

Sweeney had zero impact of the game.

And yet we didn't lose with three poor players on the pitch at various times.

Someone somewhere is doing something right eh??
